Excellent today, made three quality saves.

He's not always consistent though.

If he was consistent, he wouldn’t be playing for a middling second-tier English club.

You can count on one hand the amount of clangers he has dropped since signing which has directly led to us dropping points.

He is a very good goalkeeper at this level, he just isn't good enough to carry a whole defence by himself. Ask him to make two or three great saves a game, along with the run of the mill stuff and you are cooking, just don't expect him to make 8 or 9 like we were asking him to do earlier this season. Now Worrall is back and the other three have shown some improvement recently we again look hard to beat.

Motm for us today.

My only criticism was that he didn’t milk the injury at the end for a little longer to run down the clock.

I would say its because the ref had stopped his watch so any time beyond when he stopped it wouldn’t affect anything.

I was almost embarrassed for him. He obviously wasn't really hurt. :)

We were lucky today, but he's also made like 2-3 great saves.
Overall, I think he's a pretty good keeper. Has a mistake in him, but then he has a few games like today in his locker.

Re: Brice Samba - „Magic Hands“

Brice seems to be a completely different keeper the last 3 games and isn't making me as nervous as he used too looks solid and seems to be catching more comfortably.
Apart from kicking straight into touch about 4 times yesterday seems he has found last years confidence again

Wasn't a dig at him love him as a keeper but definitely seemed to have a confidence issue at times this season

Well if you had to play in a team which wasn't scoring goals and had Figs and Christie in the back 4 you'd probably be a bit nervy too...

Re: Brice Samba - „Magic Hands“

Really nice to get a rare interview from him yesterday - clearly his English has come on a lot since he joined.

Interesting given the previous criticism of the goalkeeping coach under Sabri, Brice mentioned the new GK coach Nick (dunno surname) 3 or maybe 4 times during the interview.

Colgan.
Long time Chelsea bench-warmer and latterly Hibs and Barnsley keeper, back in his playing days.

There is no such thing as a consistent keeper in the Championship.

There are very few consistent keepers in the Premier League.

100% Correct

Best Keeper Forest will be able to attain. He should be the first priority in getting signed up for next season. Best Keeper outside the PL without exception

I think he was off his line and moving before the ball was hit.

Needless to say the ref didn’t see it.

To be honest, I'm pretty convinced every goalkeeper is on every penatty taken these days. If the ref's applied the letter of the law, every penalty save would have to be re-taken.

I think it’s where common sense ha to be applied to the law. A few years ago we saw ‘keepers scuttling forward on penalties 3 or 4 steps which is why FIFA did their token gesture crack down on it. But as ‘keeper it’s a natural movement to move forward when making a save, and with Samba it was barely half a step.

Like you say Congo, if you applied the rule to every penalty, these would be retaken multiple times.

Re: Brice Samba - „Magic Hands“

I'd say he stayed on his line longer than most penalties you see nowadays. It wasn't a bad shot, Brice guessed right. Just as impressive was how he bounced straight back up after to make the followup catch look routine.

Now, if VAR came in for encroachment, every other penno would be retaken.

Anyone see Karl Darlow's bizarre forward dive on Utd's Pen at the weekend?

Yes, both Subasic and Schmeichel were at it in the Croatia vs Denmark shoot out (think that was at the last WC) - much as the odds are stacked against keepers anyway it's not in the spirit of the rules.

Re: Brice Samba - „Magic Hands“

When I was younger we used to look at penalties with a critical eye and, after many experiments, if the penalty is correctly taken, the keeper has no chance.

Most saves are to rather pathetic penalties which deserve to be saved and the rest are at a perfect height for the goalie who guesses right.

The perfect penalties which should be practiced, are high into the corners. It takes guts to put the kick into the top half of the goal because a miscalculation sends it over the bar.

I have spoken. Personally I was rubbish at this method, but don't do as I do, do as I say.

Quality championship keeper one of the the best outside the Premier League.

I would like him to be a little more commanding when it comes to coming off his line and claiming crosses.
