Let me get this right:

Steven Reid gets shitcanned because he's furious with the ref for not knowing the laws of the game;
Forest get shitcanned because, yet again, they're furious with the ref for not knowing the laws of the game,
and the referee who doesn't seem to know the laws of the game, causing all that furore, gets off scott-free.

Is that where we are?

I don’t actually believe what tierney and his shit **** assistant say. If Reid admitted he swore initially but not again repeatedly I believe it. Why would he lie? He admitted the charge.

Their statements look to me like they have conferred and got their stories straight.

I may live to regret this comment but I think Oliver is the best of a bad bunch.

But hey, we should stop "acting like victims"...

If Reid disputes what the official report says we should push this all the way we can, and make sure we articulate that if they'll collude to this extent where do they draw the line?

If Reid said what he is reported to have said, then that is his problem. Going on a tirade will never a) reverse a decision b) make an official more likely to give you something next time and c) endear you to his colleagues. It's a pointless, undisciplined verbal explosion. Makes him a hero to the fans of the club and does absolutely nothing to help us in the future. So be it. If anyone can see the point to this, it's lost on me. And yes, I've been on the end of this type of thing a few times. I just pull out my book, write down what the guy yells, and put it in my report. Then he can try and explain himself to the disciplinary committee. If he apologizes later, good for him. If he doesn't, I don't care. If he does it again, I do the exact same thing.

I guess the question is; Was the verbal tirade because you f**ked up and didn’t know your job?

Not excusing what Reid said - just reiterating what others have pointed out, that the source of the problem seems to have got away Scott free

Ian Ladyman in the Daily Mail has done a full article on ‘jobbing coach’ Steven Reid’s shocking tirade at Tierney. It’s left football in the sewer apparently. No reference to the number of terrible decisions against us which had led to this.

I don't disagree with any of what you say if that is exactly what Reid said. If Reid says it's a fair cop we suck it up and move on.

The question is whether he disputes what he is reported as saying, and if he does what does that then imply about the officials integrity.

Follows on from ex referee, Keith Hackett, having a go at us in The Telegraph.

Its only black and white to these journalists. No reference to the emotions of those last two minutes of that game. Always pandering to the agendas of the top 6.

The same scousers that said "ah, boo hoo" to us after that decision, are the same ones screaming blue murder, because they didn't get a penalty against Man City.

Has Tierney ever come out and said that he got it badly wrong?

Should have just got fully in his face ranting raving, arms flailing all the while, like certain Spanish or German managers I could mention when things don’t go their way, but omitted the word “****”, then everything would have been fine.

Honestly, it’s pathetic.

It does remind me of a quote from a Kurt Vonnegut book though:

“There are no dirty words in this book, except for 'hell' and 'God', in case someone is fearing that an innocent child might see one… Perhaps the only precept taught me by Grandfather Wills that I have honoured all my adult life is that profanity and obscenity entitle people who don't want unpleasant information to close their eyes and ears to you.”

Going by Tierney's statement, the video footage does not match IMHO the levels of abuse in an uncrotolled manner.

Reid could have said all that as casually as he seems to have, whilst walking away with his hands in his pockets.

But seeing the emotions of the game, poor decisions I would have expected a more aggressive Reid.

If he didn't say those things then he must appeal and show the officials for what they are.

Still not heard has there been anything more from Webb and PGMOL over the refs performance and decision? Another letter to be framed and hung in the bog

We have a couple of real shocking decisions this season which should not have happened at the time, let alone requiring an apology later. They were amateur decisions which should have resulted in descipinary action against the officials, but was any action taken? We don't know because to tell would apparently reduce the authority of the refs, or something equally daft.

The first occasion passed relatively quietly with all the pundits fans etc who voiced an opinion saying the ref was wrong. Sadly although the ref was clearly wrong, the red card could not be altered by the crazy rules, so our player suffers suspension.

Then we had a penalty which wasn't given which fuelled a burning resentment.

Then the incomprehensible decision by Tierney, which was pointed out to him by our players (MGW can be clearly seen remonstrating) and the fourth official pointing (and presumably talking on his headset).

There appears no attempt by PGMOL or the ref to admit error, whilst the staff and players have finally and obviously had enough. Result? Ref goes merrily on his way and this time our coach is penalised.

You couldn't make it up.

Perhaps the Daily Mail could start a 'Teach Referees the Rules of the Game' campaign alongside their 'Stop Abusing Referees' one.

Football has been in the sewer for years. Nothing Reid did could have changed that.

Can't fault the irony of Reid being decribed as a "jobbing coach" by a jobbing hack. Ladyman was one of the worst Forest correspondents on the Nottingham Post, which is some achievement. I was bewildered that he moved on to a national rag, which indicates how little I know.

How anyone who works for a UK tabloid has the absolute brass neck to criticise someone who works in the rather pressurised world of football management is a mystery to me?

In football, unless you are „Pep“ Guardiola, you are typically a handful of bad results from the sack.

For the UK media, which has sunk to such a level of depravity in the last few years, you seem to spend your time conducting agendas against other people, undermining anyone who is identified as a target, or basically making shit up to suit whatever agenda you are trying to push (or, more accurately, being told to push).

I wonder if NFFC was able to lodge an official complaint to the FA regarding the clear overly-aggressive actions of the linesman during that incident, and which was far more provocative than anything Tierney claims that Reid said from an obvious and respectful distance.

It will be interesting if Reid disputes any of this. As someone else said*, the aggressive language doesn't seem to match the body language. It's incredible how Tierney's memory appears to be extremely good considering just a few minutes earlier, he couldn't recall who had possession of the ball despite being reminded by our captain and fourth official. Unfortunately, as his mate the linesman seems to corroborate what Tierney claims, it'll be very difficult to prove otherwise as no one else seems to have been in earshot. And if Reid did say it, then I am slightly disappointed he didn't use "incompetent" or "corrupt" as adjectives to flesh out the description of the ****.

I thought that he should have put absolute in the 'tirade' if he made it.
