I’m surprised how some of you are talking about Attwell after yesterday. The foul on Haaland was clearly a penalty, just as the foul on CHO was. Are we honestly suggesting that because he made a howler in not instructing Taylor to give ours he should just do the same thing again for “consistency”? That’s absolute nonsense. He did the right thing yesterday after terrible judgment in our game, why do we think he should compound that awful decision by doing it again? The inconsistency and incompetence is infuriating but it doesn’t mean we should somehow demand more of it in games that have nothing to do with us. That literally makes no sense. I’m no fan of Attwell, he’s a terrible referee, but I just don’t get what people want him to do here.
See post above. He shouldn't have been in the position to have people ask that question.

When I watch the Teamtalk show, Charlie McParland can often appear dismissive of any local club fan on the show, or indeed of the host himself - "listen, I've been involved in professional football for over forty years" is something he frequently reminds everyone of; or, in other words, 'my opinion is of far more value than yours'.
It's a tough one because the reality is some opinions are worth far more than others. It doesn't mean they are always correct and Charlie should be have more humility than that. The best way to win an ideas war is simply to have better ideas and let others decide

The question is, because Atwell was given the game, did he refer the ref to the screen for the second Man City penalty because he was told he got it wrong in our game or because he didn't want to give it in our game? Such things do the PGMOL have to consider instead of their pigheaded assumption that their refs are the greatest.

Charlie Mcparland should have better ideas than Hudson Odoi being a waste of money who we wouldn't be able to turn a profit in at 3m. Yep, he said that.

Here's the thing, Atwell had a clear conflict of interest in the Everton Forest decision he doesn't give and which is universally agreed he got wrong. In the City decision he doesn’t have that conflict of interest in not giving the penalty and so gets it right. Go figure.

He's probably right though as he's had 40 years in the game.
