All: bit of a public service announcement - as you may or may not know, Elon Musk bought Twitter last year, and has been busily ruining it ever since.

Now, we know many of you use Twitter, and love to post links to juicy Twitter content on this forum. And that is cool.

However, recently, Elon has made some significant changes to the platform. And not for the better.

Since last week, you can no longer view Tweets unless you are signed up and logged in. And Also, Twitter have instituted browsing limits (effectively capping the number of times unverified users can access Twitter posts via their API).

Now, this is pretty shit, and it further doesn’t help those who are not Twitter users, because now, when you post a Twitter link, it appears in the forum as just a URL, and it won’t load (or be visible) if you’re not a Twitter user, and signed in.

A suggestion: if you see a Tweet that you think would be of interest, please don’t just post the link. Take screenshot of the Tweet instead, and then post that image. That way, everyone can actually see it, and you’re not forcing folk to have to sign up for the rancid cesspit that is Twitter, just to see what the latest Fabrizio Romano rumour is.

(Also, Screenshots mean Twitter doesn’t get a click, a page impression, or anything else, so they doubly lose out).

Would be great if you could consider posting screenshots instead of direct Twitter links, because not everyone uses Twitter (or wants to).

I will post this in Down The Pub as well.

I don't have a twitter account and the tweets still embed fine for me on browser on my mobile.

In fact, this is the only place I can see them (can't see them on twitter, obvs and they don't embed on my computer - they never have).

If this is a PUBLIC SERVICE announcement and as you are a moderator of this site, would it be possible to moderate your own personal and political bias out of the message?

It seems rather unnecessary.

Really?

Musk has taken a formerly useful service, and run it into the ground trying to recoup some of the ridiculous €44Bn he paid for it.

Am I going to call him out on that? Damn right I am, and many thousands of others have, too.

Nothing personal in that.

If you are providing, what is, an important message as a moderator you shouldn't need me to tell you to curb your personal or political opinions in that message.

There are threads made for that very purpose - a pinned thread representing LTLF for educational purposes isn't the thread to do it in.

If I want your opinion on Elon Musk, I'll go to the relevant thread on the issue. I shouldn't have your narrow-minded view thrust down my throat when you are educating people and acting as a moderator.

It's not a personal or politician opinion.

That's pretty ruinous.

There are no personal or political opinions in that post.

It is all straight-up, documented Info what has happened to Twitter since Elon Musk overpaid for it.

If you want my opinion on Musk, I’ll gladly give it to you, but not here.

They are all political and personal opinions of yours and have no place in an educational thread.

No they aren’t. You need to understand the difference between something I post as my personal opinion, and something that I am simply documenting what has actually happened. When I post a personal opinion, I make it clear that it is my opinion.

Wow bit of an over reaction to a thread. Ironically if you didn't want opinions posted on here you should have ignored it.

Guarantee this thread becomes the Elon Musk thread now 😂😂

Twitter has gone to shit since he took it over, that's not a political opinion, it's an opinion on what he's done to twitter that's it.

It's in a thread, started by a moderator charged with upholding forum rules and instructing forum members to "please read!"

Those are your opinions and have no place in a thread instructing its members to read it, and you, as a moderator, should know better.

Showing a link to a left wing newspaper only confirms your motivations are politically bias, in my opinion

Wow - as far as I’m aware the mods don’t get paid and do this as a favour to us all.
Having a pop over something as trivial as this / if it’s even a thing seems ungrateful and out of order to me.
Sorry, I didn't realise that moderators were above the rules.

My mistake, I thought I was on LTLF not vital

It's not a rule, it's a request so that every member of the forum can view the tweets.

You've taken this way to seriously.
