Nice use of the photo of Lansbury's hat. And spot on about the underwhelming start - sums up how I think about the club at the moment. Fawaz can add my name to the list of part-time fans who can't be bothered to cough up 30 quid for an average game of footbal.

It's a bigger plug than the one in the Jolly Green Giant's bathtub.

But a worthwhile read all the same.

And yes, this season has started a bit apathetically. A shame, for our 150th anniversary year.

I actually thought the transfer window was excellent, and in no way a disaster at all.

Lets be honest, we needed to get rid of Antonio - we were way too one-dimentional and its not like we were any good with him in the team last year. Now we've got £7m in the bank and a high-calibre replacement in Ryan Mendes (who also brings some much-needed pace) on £10k a week. Hopefully this will make the team play more as a unit, I particularly like the idea of Osborn playing down the left and Mendes down the right.

Oliveira, Williams, Mendes, Ebecilio, Ward and Mills are all top-class signings given the transfer embargo. Even Chris O'Grady got 15 goals the season before last for Barnsley. With literally no money, we've drastically improved the squad, whilst pocketing £7m in the process. Given the fact that before it looked like we'd be losing Lansbury, Mancienne and Hobbs as well, we've done bloody well. Now we just need Dougie to try and be bit more attacking.

Also, I think the main stand was quite fitting for the Peter Taylor renaming - the Lower Bridgford is the away end whilst the Main stand is home to A Block and the dugouts.

Of course when I say our signings are high calibre and top-class, I'm basing it on what they've done before/how they're viewed by others. Whether or not they turn out to be top-class for us remains to be seen...

I agree, the transfer window was pretty squad - but remember that most of the players bought in are on loan so may not be here next season :)

Think Mendes and Ebecilio are both with views to buy? Which isn't bad going.

Talking of that, the only thing i'm disappointed with is Paterson going. I know hes been anonymous for a while now and loaning him out was definitely best thing to do, but why did we do it with a view to buy.... Can see him doing well if hes playing week in, week out, now if he does do that then we won't see him play for us again...
