Marinakis is right in his assessment that a section of Forest fans are so used to failure that they accept it.

Comments like "I would rather watch Forest in League one than even consider leaving The City Ground" really pissed me off. I'm as emotional invested in The City Ground as anyone but if it's holding us back and will ultimately see us fall further behind progressive thinking clubs, then all options need to be on the table.

Afterall, we are Forest fans, players, managers and even stadiums can come and go over time. The progress of the club should be the no1 priority in any decision this club makes and emotional attachment should quite rightly play second fiddle.

I suppose it depends on your interpretation of progress..

No I was not a Board member at that time, nor am I now.
My error. There was a thread in the Trust's board's meetings about a Bob who was stepping down after a Cardiac Arrest. I think I may have made 17 by adding 2 and 9 together based on that, your incident at Brighton and some old arguments you may have had with posters about the Trust. My apologies.

I think the same about Sheffield Wednesday. The potential they have got is enormous if they had a decent ownership and could somehow get themselves promoted. Instead it's another club with a shitshow of an owner that's allowed the ground to crumble, ran the club like a novice and even changed an iconic crest.
If I had enormous wealth And I mean fantastically enormous) and I could buy a football club (other than Forest) Wednesday would be one I'd go for, Potential whichever way you look, and I just like them.
If I couldn't get Wednesday I'd look at Derby (to run them into the ground), Leeds (ditto), West Ham, to get them out of the stupid stadium and expose Boris's fiddles, or Mansfield, who could do with a favour.
However, if I really did have enormous wealth I'm damn sure that I wouldn't but a football club!

Wednesday have far more potential than the other Sheffield team.
A 40000 (ish) capacity stadium, which needs a touch of paint or two. Little bit of positive investment in the team, and they'll be far more successful than the other clubs you've mentioned (except Mansfield).
Their season ticket prices for next year, however, f*** me./...

I've driven down from Newcastle today and needing a pee, I called at Wetherby Services. I really don't care for the place but needs must. Lots of Leicester fans on their way to Sunderland, and as is usual, a thoroughly miserable lot of old buggers. When they were at the WFCG for the cup match two seasons ago, I thought that they were a dreadful, pathetic set of supporters.
The league game, which we won 2-0, was very similar.
What they have got though is the most successful and business-like owners outside of the top half a dozen clubs.

That reminds of the old quip about the fastest way to become a millionaire.....be a billionaire and buy a football club.

I don’t want to move from the City Ground. The only alternative site that i can think of that wouldn’t want make me want to instantly vomit would be the island site. Over the road from the train station and walkable to the City Centre. I think the current owner paid about £11m for it. Is it big enough? Not sure.

Surely there must be some potential for the meadows playing fields on the embankment? The club could allow the old training ground at ladybay to be repurposed for public use too so that there's something given back for community purposes

The thing about Wednesday is that part of the charm is its location. But then you very quickly get to the situation we find ourselves in, in relation to size and quality of the ground.

We can't do a deal with Nottingham City Council who own the land our current stadium is built on.

So let's go and do a deal with Nottingham City Council who own the meadows playing fields ?

🤔

That we have something to show for the time we’ve spent in the top division since time began, so I feel we have a certain sense of belonging there👍
I think it’s great that we achieved so much in the late 70s and in the 80s,Rian-but that was
achieved with the greatest manager ever (in my opinion) at the helm.As someone who watched a club built brick by brick by a genius (with some help from Peter Taylor) it was
great to see as a Nottingham person and an avid Forest fan.
However,Cloughie is sadly long gone and the game has changed dramatically in the intervening years which has effectively meant Forest (and other clubs) can no longer have a sense of belonging there.
I think (with proper management) we can be a decent club from time to time in the top
division but history tells us that any such seat at the top table is a privilege and not a right.
Interestingly,I was playing cricket with a Derby fan years ago and we were having a few beers after a game-we both came to the conclusion that Derby and Forest would have achieved
very little were it not for Brian Clough.

The site of that ground limits its potential though. it's crammed in between 2 A-roads and the river which is a bit of a double edged sword regarding access.

Then try doing anything to that east stand without the scousers moaning...

Tbh I'd forgotten it was the city councils land. It's a shame because it would be perfect to build a new stadium
