Having a Greg's pasty shop on the corner of Pride Park is also food for thought, just a different kind of proposition.

If 'new stadium' was a spectrum between Pride Park and Tottenham Stadium, considering all the factors, it would depend where on this spectrum Forest's new stadium would be.

We all know what the best case scenario is. The problem is that we also know what the worst case is too.
And you can absolutely guarantee, Forest would be nearer „worst“ than „best“, simply because of geographical location.

That is, Nottingham isn’t London.

But this also shows you how constrained Forest are with the current facilities at the WFCG.

I refuse to believe there isn’t some way the current site could work better, if there were significant efforts put in to getting an agreement with all the interested parties?

Otherwise, it’s just again justification for moving the club to some out-of-town shithole.
There is if we rotate...

Yes, at the end of the day we are limited by being a club in a provincial city.

And also finance; Spurs' new ground cost about £1 billion to build. If Forest ever moved grounds it goes without saying that whatever we get will be a small fraction of whatever Spurs (or even Everton) have spent on their new ground.

As I and many others on this thread have mentioned before, we are not going to be an exception to the norm and will end up with something similar to what most clubs end up with.

If we do leave the City Ground and inevitably end up in a soulless out of town stadium, don't say you weren't warned.

There will be at least one spare season ticket for sale if we ever move to Toton!

That would mean agreeing an extended lease (or buying the freehold), then, acquiring additional property to extend the site, then getting agreement with Rushcliffe Borough and the County Council, and that's the problem here compared with, for example, Germany. Everything conspires to add difficulty rather than to add value. I agree though, the current site could / must work better, and I expect that it will but it will always be a limiting factor for us.
Hopefully the new EM Mayor will have some vision and push things along.

And to think there is some folk on this very thread who would gladly throw that all away just for a bit of extra comfort for 90 minutes.

The City Ground is a core part of our identity, so much so that we sing about it every game before kick off.

If the club moves away from the City Ground, then that club is as much Nottingham Forest as Milton Keynes Dons are Wimbledon in my eyes.

I just don't trust the club not to accidentally build the ground in Derbyshire.

Anyone who attended on Tuesday witnessed WFCG in its pomp.
There are real opportunities to increase the capacity and facilities on a phased basis at a much lower cost than an out-of-town bowl.
All it needs is a clear plan, committed partners, and the drive to deliver.
Do we really believe that the issues of lease renewal, planning approval etc cannot be overcome?
WFCG is at the heart of a sporting quarter including football, cricket, rugby, ice hockey, horse racing, water sports etc. We need three local authorities on board plus government agencies.
Be clear on the vision and sell it hard.
We have prevaricated for too long.
Parking and traffic issues are overstated - I drive 70 miles to park at the City Ground. Supporters and away coaches have priority departure after games.
Last Saturday I arrived home near the Lincolnshire coast at 7.00pm, on Tuesday evening at 12.00 (after an extended journey to drop off another supporter).

It'd be wherever is cheapest, has the least obstacles and is wherever the councils want to put us.

Certainly what we want as fans won't really be given any real thought. Because ambition or something like that.

It is certainly possible to build something that fulfills all our needs at the City Ground. And that is definitely what I and many others are hoping for, the WFCG is a special place and what we have cannot be replicated elsewhere.

Whether all parties are willing is the issue. I am hoping those running the club actually want us to stay at the City Ground and the noises being made by the club at moment are just trying to put pressure on the City Council rather than them actually seriously entertaining the thought of leaving the City Ground.

Well yes, if this were Germany, you’d get 15-20.000 rabid ultras kicking up a fuss and making themselves a nuisance of whoever was perceived as blocking the works.

In the UK, it’s just mild-mannered apathy and grumbling online.

It's awful as a football stadium and the way costs have been 'spread' means that every taxpayer has contributed. White Elephant? Olympics? Ask Barcelona, ask Athens. It was always a daft idea to proceed without any sort of plan about what to do with the assets afterwards. I don't think they thought they's they'd get the gig. A bit like Brexit really "oh s**t, we've won, what do we do now?".
If I remember correctly there was a referendum in London over whether they should try to host the 2012 Olympics as residents would end up footing the bill. I voted no mostly because when estimating big projects in the UK the headliner projects seem to be costed at about 1/3rd of the final cost. Despite leaving London in 2007 I still ended up contributing towards it.

Why do people keep using Tottenham's ground as an example? :ROFLMAO: Dream on ffs. I'll give you another example more closely aligned. Pride Park. So that puts the entire idea to bed.

Did any of you making these ridiculous comparisons go on Tuesday? You think one of those fish bowls can replicate THAT? Again, dream on. Some of you might be getting all selfish because you get wet wee stains because of the horror of visiting a busy toilet and would like more space but there's some of us who aren't ashamed! Banning alcohol from the ground? Possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard proposed and that includes Jeremy Corbyn's idea of free internet.

Now, lets all be sensible and stop talking absolute bollocks.

Any news on the redevelopment yet?

New mid-sized stadiums in other countries can be rather nice (see Bordeaux, Mainz), but they're generally a steaming pile of sh*t over here. Leicester, Southampton, D*rby, Rotherham. Whenever the architects try to do something different (Brighton and Brentford spring to mind), it's usually an eyesore.

The whole saga is enough to make you yearn for the golden age of the brown paper envelope. Construction would already be underway.

Still, I honestly believe that the threat to build elsewhere is posturing and nothing more.
