Thank You Nigel Doughty

Would like to add my thanks to Mr.Doughty, running off and leaving us in the lurch because 100 (mainly kids) protested after a match against you.

Sincere thanks especially for:

Leaving us with a shit squad on a huge wage budget.

Leaving us with a shit manager who had no sort of track record at all at this level but was appointed by your chosen successor for this reason anyway. Who we now can't afford to sack.

Leaving us with your last and most prolific failure to date's staff all over the club still.

Leaving us with a nice new academy (genuine thanks), with all its products not being used in the first team at all. (Specifically a prolific goalscorer who doesn't make the bench when we couldn't score in a brothel and a centre half who attracted a £5m bid from one of the top clubs in the country but can't make the bench so we'll use midfielders in his place and then moan about square pegs in round holes)

Leaving us in a relegation fight, with no money to fight it and a 1 legged horse of a squad led by a tool.

Those 100 people must really have bruised your ego to let your club end up like this, if we go down you will lose the few remaining eternally appreciative fans you have left.

Oh yeah, also congratulations on that £75m you spunked up the wall as we are back where we started.

1 Billy Sharp instead of Greening, Boateng, Reid and Derbyshire, I very much doubt we'd be in this mess. Doughty is a clown, McClaren was clueless. Thank you, you've sent the club backwards.

What happened to the policy of bringing in young, hungry players and talent from the lower leagues? It was serving us well.

I think Steve McClaren decided it wasn't worthwhile.

LOL how all of this is Doughtys fault.

Fucks sake, get some perspective.

This!

The players and agents.. Being too greedy on wages and then not doing what they are supposed to do.. i.e. score! Why does nobody blame Jimmy Floyd our super over-paid striking coach much more relevant to our situation...

Yeah the young hungry players policy is bullshit. Players in their early-mid 20s like Camp, Gunter, Moussi, Anderson, Majewski, Blackstock, Wilson, Cohen etc weren't the backbone of a side who finished 3rd and 6th in the league. Not at all.

f*** it, you can go back to League 1 where the above and the likes of Tyson, Holt and Commons was the start of Forest getting out of the shit we were in to start with.

Journeymen signings were a large part of why we went down to League 1 in the first place.

We need to f*** these 'big names' off ASAP.

It's telling that all three of those players play for teams who would beat us comfortably.

Only this club could get it itself into such a position of strength- and so amazingly cock it up.

We're the kings of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I think Steve McClaren decided it wasn't worthwhile.
McClaren, looking back, just seemed completely lazy to me. Doesn't seem like he actually did anything.

He's 6 months into his very first coaching role mate, Doughty's had 12 years.

Anyroad in the spirit of the thread, cheers Nige!

His running of the club has been a complete and utter failure. And I would largely put the blame for our current predicament at his door. Yes, we heavily rely on his financial input...but it's his club, he has made the calls, and we lose 11 million pounds a year after 12 years of his ownership. If he wanted to run the club in a more prudent fashion (like Swansea), he could have. But he hasn't. And now we stare League One in the face once again, having sacked a successful manager 6 months ago, having not invested 'from a position of strength' as promised.

All of this is irrelevant though. He owns the club, is pulling his money out, and unless someone has many millions to buy him out, that's our lot. Great.

Dear Nigel,

Thanks for making me endure 3 seasons of League One football

Thanks for doing your best to send us back down there.

Thanks for coming on twitter to explain the conveniently timed FFP rules, rather than just saying you bottled making a real promotion push.

Thanks for letting several of our key players run their contracts down only to walk away for nothing.

Thanks for hiring Joe Kinnear.

Thanks for hiring Gary Megson ....... GARY - f***ing - MEGSON!!!!

Thanks for deciding to leave after you McClaren experiment blew up in our faces, wish you'd done that after Platt

McClaren, looking back, just seemed completely lazy to me. Doesn't seem like he actually did anything.

It was talked about quite a lot that Doughty said 'spend some cash, but buy youngsters who can improve', then he bought Boateng.

This is why there was money available for the 20 year old Dutch kid, but not for journeymen left backs,

The merits of this strategy will only be known in the future, but I think it's a strategy that got us out of league one and maybe back into it.

I thought it was all Steve McClaren as Doughty and Arthur were criticised for not giving the manager autonomy over signings and stuff. McClaren said the TAP had been disbanded.

Absolutely. It's what works in the Championship, just look at nearly all the clubs that have been successful over the last few years. How many over the hill, ex Prem players did they need? It's not like Doughty didn't know this either, he vowed never to buy 'pension players' again after the Megson debacle and that led to 4 years or so of steady improvement, until this summer...

I think he fell for the big name in McClaren.

Amazing...

Forest fans abused him continually for years across the internet, wanted him to go, so when he does go, you still abuse him. Perhaps your should vent your anger at the morons that demanded he leave.

......and who employed those two and allowed them to make such decisions, whilst not allowing previous managers half that freedom?

Has....the....penny....dropped....?

Lol, you are funny! :))

I think if someone trips on the pitch that must be Doughtys fault as well as Arthur employed the groundsman and who employed Arthur and .....
