We need one. He's one of our best players, I'd argue one of the better full back in the prem in terms of his overall game. I'm always confident when he defends one on one. And he consistently makes good decisions with the ball under pressure. Top player, brilliant news.

If he starts next season strong we should renegotiate and try and sign him long term. Good fullbacks are very difficult to find, especially ones who can actually defend one on one properly. I think we under-rate his value. I fully expect someone will make an offer for him this summer.

Fair enough, but I'd have thought with his contract expiring we could've just given him a brand new one for 3 years or so.

why not ? Aina has a history of injury issues hence why we got him on a free and why he only played 22 games this season. If we give him 3 years , i won't be surprise he will get injured for an entire season once the new season get underway , with one year , it gets him motivated to be fit for the new season and incentive to get a new contract.
