Taiwo Micheal Awoniyi of NIGERIA!

The only thing I find odd is that it’s taken so long for people to come out of the groupthink and admit that he’s bobbins.

Despite having a purple patch a couple of years ago he was still bobbins then.

Nice enough chap probably but we need rid asap which means we need at least one replacement.

I don't think that he's bobbins, but, unfortunately for him, his return from injury has coincided with Forest miraculously moving from a bottom 5 side to a top 5 side.

Is he as good as he was before? Probably not.

But it's the speed with which Forest have moved on that will ultimately be his downfall.

Yup, bobbins is relative. What we needed before was just what Taiwo was able to provide. Now, we’re a better team with higher expectations. Taiwo isn’t capable of the role Nuno needs him to play, so he looks rubbish, sadly.

With the 12 🤣 minutes of added time he had 20 minutes today.

It’s important to consider that his 390 minutes of football this season doesn’t cover added time at the end. 19 games and 4 starts means he’s closer to 5-600 minutes of football.

He’s likely had 6 games of actual football then…and one goal.

He can’t play the system we need him to, looks fit one week and crippled the next. He’s currently offering nothing and looks like he’ll cost us more games than win games.

Awoniyi and Omo, it’s time to go.

A winger and forward required.

He really has to go now, all of us would love to have Big T back to how he was but that is not going to happen here. Send him to Greece to see if he can get his mojo back. It has go to the stage where it is now pointless playing him. Try something radical and at 70 mins put Murillo up front and Boly into defence. At least Murillo will be able to hold the ball up and and attack the goal

You know something is wrong when Wood's legs still looked fresher when he was subbed than the bloke replacing him.

Big T from yesteryear had pace in spadefuls. I don't understand how he still looks so unfit.

Something def isn't right with big t, don't know if it's injury or confidence, but we need another striker because if woody gets injured we're in the poo.

Why do so many clubs bid for Duran, is it a known thing that Villa will sell? Or he wants out? Or his contracts low?

Seems like he’s the future of Villa, I feel like they’d rather sell Watkins.

Yeh I think there’s a clash with him and his manager, may not have the right character, despite being a top finisher. Must be his agent playing the play me or I’m out card.

Plays like he’s got castors in his boots instead of studs. Lovely sixth touch, the first five are anyone's guess. For whatever reason he can’t maintain his fitness and position as a professional athlete.

Jhon Duran is a bit of a Mario Balotelli character by all accounts. A bit spiky, difficult to handle. A mercurial talent.

If he can find a manager who can put their arm around him and manage him well, he could go far.

Potter could be the man to do that and build the team around him. I can see what West Ham are going for there and also his agent if that's the case. Duran wants to be the main man. Emery comes across as a 'tough love' type of manager like Mancini was with Balotelli at Citeh. It probably won't work out in the end which is why getting good money for him now would seem like the best option for all parties.

In terms of Awoniyi, I don't think he's quite in the same bracket of the above in terms of attitude, but I think he also wants to be the main striker. Believed in. Given confidence that he's the starter. The bridesmaid role doesn't suit him. He looks really down to me at the moment whereas there were other strikers like Solskjaer who thrived on that supersub role.

Add in there that he and Watkins are essentially fighting over the same spot and something will give somewhere eventually

What has actually happened to Awoniyi. Falling over his on feet and then the ball bounces off him and he moves nowhere to get it back.

When he came here, he came here off the back of basically a full season in Germany where he scored 15 goals in 31 games in the Bundesliga.
But even then, it was like he couldn't trap a bag of cement.

We persisted with him for months and then he got a little bit of form, got injured, came back and really hit his stride then got injured again the next season and hasn't been the same.

I think Awoniyi is a good guy and on his day, he's every bit as good as Wood in a different style of forward but it hasn't been his day for a long time and I don't see his day coming around in a Forest shirt again.

If his role is to come on, hold the ball up to alleviate pressure and see out a game then he's not very good at it. I feel like Yates would do a better job up top if that was the assignment. We get up the pitch, Yates gets pushed and we get the ball in the final third somewhere and keep it.

I think Awoniyi's role is simply to be the guy that comes in and be our starting striker should Wood get injured. If that happens I'd back him to do the business and continue his goals to starts ratio.

It would be great if he could threaten off the bench in the meantime but it's not looking like it at the mo. As PL goalscorer insurance policies go though? None better imho, especially since we know he can link very well with two or three in our squad.

If Everton make any kind of decent offer, it would be in everybody's interest to let him go. It's become painful to watch a player who was central to all the good things of the last 2 seasons drift ever further away from any real relevance to where Forest are now.
I actually think he could do very well for Moyes and a change of scenery and a run of games could yet see him back to his best. So with a bit of luck both clubs and the player himself could benefit from a move.

I’m still backing the lad to score a vital goal for us before seasons end, a Brian Rice or Garry Parker type of iconic finish that we’ll talk about for years to come ……come on DS9 pull ya sell together

Looked a bit better today I thought, albeit one of the easiest games to come on for. Nice little cut past the defender to help make Neco's goal.

I nearly fell off my sofa when I saw him chop inside of van Hecke instead of lashing it into the side netting….

He did look up for it today. Maybe because he sensed a chance to score or maybe getting fitter? Whatever it is, I hope he can prove a viable option off the bench for the rest of the season.

It helped he came on when we were attacking for a change, he's always better when he's just focused on getting himself or the ball towards goal

Was a really good save from his shot, glad it led to a goal
