Horses for courses I reckon. Cooper was the perfect manager for us in his first two years for what we needed but there is still a huge question mark over his ability to take a team forward in the Premier League.

In contrast Nuno probably couldn't have worked the miracle Cooper did but certainly has a lot more experience in progressing a team at this level.
Cooper did a great job but hit his ceiling, Nuno has a higher ceiling. It was the correct decision to move Steve on when we did, we are seeing that in the team we are now.

Without asking you to break confidences - do you know Vardy was involved for sure?

Vardy bad mouthing does fit the Cooper finding big personality legacy players difficult to manage narrative.

But it would be lazy journalism to talk to Vardy or his people and just take his word for it .
I'm always a bit suspicious of people who say people round here are saying bad things but I'm not of one them.
Usually translates to I was saying bad things bit I'm too cowardly to admit it.

Those writing the pieces - example the Althetic Leicester guy will be fairly ITK., although it wouldn't' be first time a journo has been duped And others could just repeat his line as they expect him to be ITK . Maybe he was protecting his access to the showbiz Vardies.

No I don’t know anything for sure, I was just following the same logic as you did. The third time I read “Cooper had issues with players (not Vardy though, who is a great professional and a lovely bloke and definitely not a gobby chav) which led to his downfall” it was pretty obvious who the “source” was……

The one with the wannabe celeb wife who probably has a dedicated PR team maybe?

Your faith in journalists’ professionalism is sweet, but it did make me laugh.

I'm more and more grateful to Steve Cooper for how he equipped us for that first season in the PL; it wasn't pretty, we had to dig in, but compared to the likes of Russell Martin at Southampton, we managed to survive. He laid down the foundations for us to step up to the next level. I've no doubt he'll find another club and achieve some success. Leicester was never going to work, although he did a good job with them under the circumstances. He has cemented his place in Forest history.

He's better than the Bayern Munich manager, that's proven.

Super Cooper in @ WBA

Corberan is off to Valencia
Looking at the champ sides shortly after the Leicester boot they are the closest he can hope for in getting himself back at the top level in the next six months. Decent move for both parties I reckon.

Be interesting to see whether Corberan handles this one better than his last overseas move to Oly. I have doubts...

WBA would be the ideal opportunity to Steve. I think the automatics are possibly a little out of reach, but the play-offs certainly aren't.

Taking them up via Wembley and passing Leicester on their way down couldn't be more sweeter.

Having said that, I'd have thought that Valencia would have a much wider global pool to choose from than the EFL Championship.

Yes - would be sweet revenge to pass Leicester on their way down.
I think it would be an ideal job for him - they are a decent team - sitting in the play-off places. Every chance he can bring them up and re-establish himself.

Valencia are totally skint, not sure what has happened there - but they got half way through building a new ground and pulled the plug on it as they ran out of money. Currently bottom of Liga 1 with every chance of going down.

I truly hope fester go down after sacking Coops.
They would have had a better chance of staying up with him in charge.
Down with the dippers, good luck Stevie in whatever you do next.
Oh they will.

He was getting them punching above their weight, and...as the past few games have shown...without him they're feeble squad really shows it's true colours.

They were going down regardless

They won't pick up a single point without that keeper, he must have won them about 10 points already this season - that wasn't sustainable

Says much for Coops qualities that we still have this topic going and feel that he needs a decent job.

The lurch forward we got and maintained when he joined us was stunning and whatever happens, he'll always be OK in my book.
Yeah mine too - he might have his limitations but haven't we all, and what he can do for a group in a short space of time, as we saw, wad quite simply unbelievable. Top man, and Leicester's loss will be someone else's gain. I hope he gets the WBA job - good club and fit imho.

I think Father Christmas is bringing me this one and a couple of other recent Forest books. Don’t forget there’s a Forest Books thread if you (or anyone else) fancy reviewing it.

I've actually never seen that thread I'll have a look
It’s not got a lot in it but I thought it would make a good place for people to draw attention to new Forest-related books and maybe to review them to help others in their choices. I know I try to get just about any new book about Forest and I like to think there are a fair few others that do too.

Disclosure:
And if they happen to like the ones I’ve been involved with so much the better… 😀
