He took us that step up we waited patiently for and will always be a legend in my eyes. A difficult task trying to get together a practically new squad for the allegedly best League in the world. Don't forget we were still out of the relegation spot when hr left us. Good luck and THANK YOU.

Fulham sold Mitrović in the summer. They had the time to buy a replacement.

Awoniyi got injured after the transfer window closed.
easier said than done, a good goalscorer isn't that easy to find. the difference between forest and fulham , they are not solely dependent on just one striker to score and that was on cooper's failure as it was clear from last season that we lacked a goalscoring threat from midfield or anywhere without awoniyi. Mgw is going to struggle without cooper.

The "tell all" promised by Dan Taylor...

This is a long read, so for those who don't have 10 minutes, the highlights are:

- Marinakis believes Cooper has underperformed throughout our Premier League era, expectation is genuinely to reach for top six.
- Marinakis is irked by the fans level of support for Cooper, feels it is undeserved.
- Marinakis and Marinakis Jr debate tactics after games and tell Cooper when they think he got it wrong.
- Marinakis Jr has hung pictures of himself around the ground, and took a squad motivational speech after Fulham game.
- Cooper is well aware of Palace interest in him and has been open to the move for a number of months.
- Confirmation Dane Murphy wasn't paid his promotion bonus on time, and he had to bring in lawyers to secure it. Sacked thereafter.
- Gary Brazil feels "wounded" by his treatment from Marinakis.
- Cooper furious with Randall for public humilation of Worrall during kit launch.
- Marinakis chose to remove Randall from Chairmanship (for multiple reasons).
- Confirmation Cooper requested Ayew, Wood and Shelvey (although doesn't say level of vetting thereafter)
- Confirmation our new set piece coach was a Cooper pick.

Good luck Nuno!

The Dane Murphy bonus think reeks of bad management, in my opinion. Much like the late fees owed to agents, etc. And the reported issues with not giving Samba the salary increase he expected on winning promotion.
Time will tell whether EM takes Forest on to further glories but I think the above is just not acceptable.

I missed that episode. Can someone fill me in?

Yeah I had no idea either.

Apparently Randall was talking about Joe wanting to be a cricketer rather than a footballer and then ended with the gag "And at times last season we wished he'd gone down that route too."

Cooper furious for undermining the close-knit, positive atmosphere he had fomented.

Thank you Steve for everything - gave me the best moment of my NFFC supporting life!

Never cheered as loud as that day at Wembley! I’ll have a soft spot for any club you rock up at next. Maybe it will be us again one day?

Anyone able to give a quick summary for those of us who aren't subscribers, please? *EDIT* Cheers Maxi!

Though I assume said article can be summed up as "Steve Cooper was shafted"?

I am gutted he's gone. It's a stupid, reactionary decision by an owner who always wants to move on to the next shiny toy. Instead of keeping us up it will have the opposite effect and send us back down.

Maybe I am misremembering things, but Santo got a Wolves side that was far too good for the championship promoted and after having a year of being able to work with the squad was able to keep the momentum going for his first season in the prem. In his last season there, he had to change things and started to struggle. Here he has got to come into a struggling side and not only galvanise it but deal with a plethora of injuries. Time will tell but to me it smacks of "which of Mendes clients is free" and not "who is going to be the perfect fit for the squad we have and see things that maybe Cooper didn't."

The treatment of Cooper has, and this is the politest I can say it, disgusting. What he's done for the club is incredible, and to have people at the club constantly briefing the media about his job security is appalling. I have cut the regime running the club a lot of slack for decisions and the way they operate in the past but this is an atrocious way to operate a football club. Cooper deserves better but so does anyone employed by the club. It should not be leaking this kind of information.

I will miss Steve Cooper a lot. I wouldn't have been happy getting relegated but if it happens I'd rather it had been with Cooper and he may have even turned it around - he certainly did last year. What the club had was a lightning in a bottle. A special bond between a fanbase and a club as the result of a manager that afforded it a lot of slack it will no longer get. This is a stupid decision that occurred simply to satiate an owners constant need for change and farcically unrealistic expectations.

Thank you Steve for everything you have done and were able to achieve in spite of the way the club was run.

One point you missed Maxi was the club seeding anti cooper stories into the press at various times.

Marinakis aspirations of top half with this team is delusional in the extreme.

Ive nothing against Nuno & wish him the best, what he doesnt know yet is he's inheriting two below average keepers, a defense who can't cope, a midfield with no visionary passing & an attack with zero end product.

With Nuno likely to be oblivious to this, it'll now take longer to diagnose & fix.

Crazy decision.

Bizarrely that makes me feel a little better for Steve this morning. He doesn’t need to to be working there anymore, and we know he grinded it out for the club/fans in challenging circumstances.

Kinda ok with hearing he was thinking about moving on considering, I would have hated the thought that this has been unexpectedly ripped from him. He’ll go on to better things.

Lots to unpack around the perceptions about Nottingham, and Nottingham Forest. It’s not that we don’t strive for success, we’re serial winners and many fans have seen us win everything there is to win. It’s just different, and we just found something that I’d argue only Atletico and maybe Liverpool have in the whole world.

Ugggh. That's not made me feel any better today that's for sure. A line in Paul Taylor's article sums up the main concern for me....

Cooper, for his part, had become ground down by the environment.

This has been an ongoing issue under most managers which first came to light when Karanka was here, and I fear Nuno will become victim to it too.

And as @MASE says, EM's dreams of Europe really need some grounding in reality. Yes it's achievable, but not how we're run.

Even if only half of this is true, Coops was a star for putting up with it. I doubt many other top managers will.

The Dane Murphy bonus think reeks of bad management, in my opinion. Much like the late fees owed to agents, etc. And the reported issues with not giving Samba the salary increase he expected on winning promotion.

Honestly, it's outright disgusting behavior, and a big black mark against those who run the club.

I think we're tolerating it more because of the shambles which Fawaz left us in, but how many fans would trade EM for an owner who ran the club with less ego, more professionalism, and more integrity? Even if they invested less money? I'd be interested to see.

Weird that this is given so much attention at the start of the article, but Cooper exiling Worrall from training is down in the small print at the bottom. Hardly Marinakis’s fault anyway.

Makes me feel better for Cooper.

Nice big fat pay-out, chance to leave this shitshow of unrealistic expectations from your intolerable boss behind, spend some time with family and in the countryside.

Cooper will be hurting, but he'll also feel relieved. Chance to reset, recharge.
