Just been watching his post-match interview from last night. Clearly pissed off with performances from some senior players (obviously his version of pissed off is quite mild but there was definitely some brow furrowing).

Just watched it and agree, that's as annoyed as I've seen him. Clearly Laryea, mbe soh and briain were asked to prove something to him today and they failed from the sounds of it (likely to different degrees). Can't win them all I guess.

Cafu is probably safe 😉

It's also clear that he wants a fair few more through the door.

Agreed, that is as annoyed as I have seen Coops.

You have to remember, Steve Cooper is one from the Roger Moore School of public displays of emotion.

Make no mistake, the Head Coach will no doubt be reminding some of those who played last night where they fell short.

Interesting watch.

It seems to me that we're still a few weeks from being fully-prepared for the new season. We kick off in ten days, but it's not surprising that we're playing catch-up still, given how short the pre-season has been and the number of incoming signings.

Hopefully the first team plays at Valencia - I'm not sure they've all played together yet?

He usually backs the players to the hilt so yeah clearly disappointed that we couldn't beat non league opposition and some of the performances. We should've had enough tohe game comfortably. Shame Ojeda was so poor he had shown glimpses of class prior to last night and thought he could be worthy of a squad place. He gave the ball away cheaply a few times.

I think he should be that bullet proof that he could afford to take us back down once, unfortunately I don't think the big man would see it that way. Once we settle that shouldn't be a dilemma anyway as I think we'll be ok
I’m not sure how many of the players we’ve brought in are down to SC but there’s no doubt it’ll be on his shoulders to see us progress. Let’s see where we are by the time of the WC break coz that’s when owners will get twitchy.

Can't help but notice that a lot of our fans are getting carried away with this summers spending, spending a lot of money guarantees you nothing in this division. The one thing money can't buy is playing chemistry and an understanding between 11 players on the pitch, that's the minimum required to get results and it's only achievable with time (time which we haven't had)

Have seen quite a few images circulating that compare teams spending this summer, highlighting the fact we've spent more than x or y club. People seem to be getting lost in it all and setting expectations that are likely to end in disappointment. Of course we've spent a lot of money, we've had to build 80% of a premier league team and when you consider the amount of players we've bought in it's actually far from an 'expensive team' (~£90m net spend across 8 players + the 2 loans)

I know it's exciting times and we all want to continue the highs of last season but I think everyone should take a step back and assess the situation for what it is. In theory we've recruited well so far, but we're yet to see how they step up to the task of premier league football. We essentially have a group of strangers who have had to get to know each other and try develop some form of playing connection in less than 4 weeks, it's unrealistic to expect them to be anywhere near ready for the task at hand

I think we have to give the league the respect it deserves you don't get a guaranteed pass just by spending >£100m, majority of teams in this division have an established core/identity and use the transfer windows to bring in additional quality. That's not easy to compete against when you're entering the season as a work in progress currently undergoing a full renovation. The higher the expectations get set the sooner the disappointment will start creeping in and then it's only a matter of time before people start getting vocal and pointing fingers

After all the worst case scenario is that we get relegated, obviously we all want to stay in the top division but even if we go down we'll still be in a much better position than we have been at any point over the past 30 years. I just hope we can all enjoy this season for what it is, get behind Cooper and the lads win lose or draw. Lets not resort to spitting out dummies when we find ourselves in waters a bit more choppy than expected

I don’t think anyone is under any illusion how difficult it’s going to be this season. The calibre and quantity of players we’ve brought in and continue to be linked with are beyond what we could have hoped for and this is a one off never to be repeated opportunity to reshape our squad. Whatever happens it’s gonna be an amazing season we will enjoy it whatever happens

All the above, absolutely. A group of individuals needs a bit of time to become a team. We’ve seen Coop’s man management talents before, and I’m confident that he can do it again. We’ve all got so very excited at the potential, and the sheer number of signings, and the people the club have been linked with. I can’t remember when we last had a summer like this. But being the glass-half-full type of person, I’m waiting for reality to bite us on the backside. I really hope that our dreams will come true.

Some great points there-but the owner looks hell bent on staying up to me.
It should be an interesting ride.

As I said yesterday, that friendly yesterday will have made up Cooper's mind about who will stay and who won't.

Cooper's interview tells me he looks to be very certain about those individual performances that were disappointing. When you're given a challenge by the manager to show me what you've got, you push hard to impress the manager. I didn't feel enough of those fringe players did that and neither did Cooper. That's why we do need a few more signings. Half-arsed performances in the Premier League will be punished badly.

Was nice that he basically confirmed Yates and Surridge will be in his first team squad probably with Cafu. Shame he was so pissed at everyone else. He'll be on at Dane this week for depth signings in attack. I still think Ojeda will play a part if not loaned out as that was the first bad game I've seen him play for us.

Sauce salad?
Ojeda looks quite a way off the level from the bits I've seen - he likes to break the line but he wastes possession too often for my liking.

What a top, top post Any Time Now. I hope our spending won't distort fans reality's too heavily and that they stick with the team and Coops if things don't get going too quickly which I think will be highly likely.

I will still see survival as a success even if we sign a fair few more

It's all about mid-table...
Gunna bite my tongue til we've played Valencia, but certain parts of the interview concern me. He aint looking forward to the challenge YET with the sound of him.

Thrash Valencia 6 nil and we're all on cloud 99 again.

I must say I thought the same. He knows we're not ready yet.

But, we'll get there with him, Dane, Evangelos and Miltiades at the helm.

Hopefully we can grab a win or two before the first international break to settle the nerves a bit.

With the signing we've made and have had to make, our pre season effectively starts against Newcastle and will end in September. I really hope their fitness is tiptop as they will have to hit the ground running.
