Steve Anthony Cook

Steve Cook, Bournemouth captain, being linked today in the NEP, via the Daily Mail. If we're interested genuinely, it'll be as a replacement for Worrall, both as player, character and leader.

We're well off in that Department, but I'd personally take him. Not getting games there and six months left on contract.

Re: Steve Cook

Only 5 or 6 years older than the top end of the age profile we’re targeting…

Re: Steve Cook

Thought he was going off to QPR? hence why left out of 18 for last squad. Pretty sure it done that one.

This. Doesn't fit the profile of player we are looking for at all. Older, expensive players on a downwards trajectory like Cook are precisely the kind of player we are looking to move away from under Murphy.

Re: Steve Cook

I dont think this a good signing considering the age profile and the risk if it goes wrong in my personal opinion. It would go against what the club is trying to achieve as well.

Re: Steve Cook

Not sure why we need him.

Unless the plan is for just a short term cover job with Ely and Soh being made by McVities, if the plan is to sell Worrall, or they think this is likely. We'd then only be left with Figs (who is also up in the summer), McKenna, and Yates who could play there.

That, or we're trying to cash in on Toby to get a fee for him?

Re: Steve Cook

All depends on the length of deal and wages for me.

I bet most calling him every name under the sun has never even seen him play.

Re: Steve Cook

I know nothing about the guy but we require a leader, someone who gets in the ear of the ref and refs the game for the ref like so many other players seem to in games against us.

Maybe hes here for that?

I think it's more that he represents the old way of doing things (old ex-Premier League player on big wages) rather than deeming him a bad player as such.

Personally I hope he doesn't sign because he's the type of signing I think we should be moving away from, but I'll give him a chance if he does join.

I think he is this. If we do lose worrall he might be a decent pick up. We have been f**ked over with so many of these types of players over the years ( back end of career, last big payday, contract too long, played higher and not motivated l etc..) but it doesn’t mean it can never work out. Especially if there are a lot of younger players about and the general ethos is to buy / loan younger.

Again at the moment I’m happy to trust the manager / director of football.

Re: Steve Cook

If we get him I do think worral will most likely be leaving. Cook should be reasonable enough to fit right in and do a good job though and I'm assuming that mbe soh was supposed to be his long term replacement when he came.

Re: Steve Cook

If he’s coming here for experience, like how Taylor explains, I am 100% fine with it if it’s for the right price.

Figs is gone in the summer so he’ll replace him and will be 100x better lmao.

The majority of our signings are gonna be young players, it’s never a bad thing to sign older heads for a the experience.

I’m expecting Grabban and Taylor to rub off on Keinan Davies.
