It's Craig Pawson what did people expect. One of the worse Prem refs and was pretty crap in the Championship too.

West Ham were time wasting all game until they were losing as well. No yellow cards.

Seems to be a rule that only Forest have to hurry up if we’re winning.

Every 50/50 went Spurs way which was getting on my tits until he didn't send Cook off.

I don’t get that either. Did Cook get booked at all?
It’s either a penalty and at least a booking or not a penalty. Bemused by it.

And the Lino on the Peter Taylor stand needs to learn to use his left arm, and also make a decision without the referee. There was a ball that was a good 6 inches out of play that he let continue play with and then flags for a throw when the ball wasn’t out of play. Guess what colour the team were wearing that got the benefit of those 2 decisions in particular..

Also 2 corners we should have had that were given as goal kicks.

Admittedly from the other end of the pitch, but it looked like a foul on Williams by Richarlison for their 2nd. I can’t understand why that wasn’t referred to VAR?

Cook got a yellow.

It was deemed he didn't stop a goal scoring chance. Kate thinks it was obvious but replays are inconclusive if he'd have got a head on it.

Thanks. Didn’t see that .

Any explanation as to why just a yellow ?
No double jeopardy any more if it isn‘t clearly denying a goalscoring chance; just a yellow card and the penalty.

Don't think the ref did a lot wrong really. Could've easily sent Cook off too.

Looked like a goalscoring opportunity to me.

f***ing daft thing to do.
How is it a daft thing?

If you continue with the presumption that it's a goal scoring opportunity, then he downgrades an almost certain goal to a penalty with a lower probability of scoring.

Yes, he then gets a red. But we know in lots of other 'last man' scenario the best thing a defender can do is take one for the team. At 1-0 down its keeping us in the game.

In this instance he gets lucky and only gets a yellow and the keeper saves the penalty.

The 'daft thing' keeps us in the game.

Imho, the ref and var ref was right. The flight of the ball is out of reach from Kane, Cooks hand half a foot or more higher than Kane's head.

Cooks intention was to prevent a goal scoring opportunity - in the moment, he couldn't tell. But the law doesnt deal with intent in this matter. It deals with the material facts, no opportunity was denied.

Personally I would never advocate getting sent off to prevent a possible goal.

Conceding and still having 11 men is a better scenario than conceding and having 10 men.

I am not a huge Pawson fan, but I think he reffed a good game today. We have no good reason to complain about any of our bookings. We deserved every last one of them. I don't think Spurs did anything over the top in terms of the so called "dark arts". Any team with half a brain will try and waste time if they have a slender lead. And yes, we do this shit too, just like everyone else. You can't just keep blaming the ref guys. It's empty rhetoric much of the time. Concerning Cook, the ball wasn't going to go in, hence a yellow card. Real stupid maneuver by Mr. Cook, that one.

Last minute, stopping a certain goal for a penalty that may be missed? Score the goal you don't win.

Look at Suarez in the world cup his cheating got Uruguay to a semi final rather than the plane home.

That was a certain goal and last minute, dying seconds… yes, as horrible as what Suarez did was, it made a difference.

Thinking about it, neither McKenna nor Cook saved a certain goal/chance or they would have been sent off. So they’ve actually given the opposition a better chance of scoring a goal for no reason.

Luckily both penalties were poorly placed and well saved.

Waste time and it's a booking now (for a non top 6 team) hence the multi-ball system.

Not that it was indicative in our defeat, but the evidence in bias is there.

It looked like Kane had got hold of Steve Cook as the cross came across. It looked like the ball was too high for Kane to make contact on.

Pawson was literally stood behind their centre back and watched him tap the ball about 10cm instead of giving it to the keeper. Then just walked away. After visibly warning them 2 or 3 times in the first half. It’s fine if every team is afforded those allowances.

They took 30 seconds to take one kick. Henderson was booked after about 20 seconds against West Ham, they were taking the same time in the first half on kicks and throw ins.

Time wasting is a bit of a myth anyway. If you actually time how long the kicks and throws take there’s little difference between the start of the game and the end when a team is winning.

I think the point of time wasting is not actually to waste time, but to break up play. To prevent a side from gaining momentum to try and equalise or get the winning goal, whatever they are trying to do. Because refs add on time at the end of a game it can rebound spectacularly against the team trying to waste the time by having a gaol scored against them.

The clever teams break up play without actually looking as if they are trying to waste time.

Kane also clearly pushed Yates when challenging for a header in their box. Both hands on his back, clear as daylight. Little things.

Yep. Like Awonyi got a shove in the back when controlling the ball yet tries to shoulder their player to keep the ball and gives away a foul.

What is the f***ing point in linesman these days. They've got the easiest job in the world...

Hmm, attacking player looked offside there... better keep the flag down until the ball has been cleared and then put it up. If the ball isn't cleared, might as well keep it down in case he scores and VAR can decide.

Hmmm, balls gone out... I know, I'll look at the ref, wait for him to pick it then flag the same way.

Eek, saw a clear foul there... better ignore that and hope the ref saw it - if he didn't it probably wasn't a foul.

Useless twats.

The last comment is spot on. I've been having that running debate with coaches for my entire reffing career. It's not like I ever expect someone to rush a restart unless they see an opportunity because someone is asleep/out of position.

Say that to Brice Samba, he'd take the ball from the left, to the right spot it three times take it back to the left and then pass it to McKenna.
