Predict the squad at the end of the transfer window

Preferably at the start of the season I guess, but the confirmation date is September the 1st I believe.

I'm not even sure if Forest will be carrying over any numbers from the Championship days, and some of you might know better on that, but I'm making my own guess based on deciding new numbers for the whole squad.

I'd say if you predict a space is filled by a new player, and it is but just a different one to the one you guess, it could be worth half a point (I'm not planning to tally up and see who was closest though).

I'll go with this as my guess (not indicative of first choice XI exactly - I'd say with this squad that could be more like Henderson; Biancone, Worrall, Niakhate; Williams, Garner, Toffolo; Aribo, Gibbs-White; Johnson, Awoniyi although not necessarily at first or in the harder games, particularly away, and I'd think Yates could still be in contention whether playing one deep CM or two, McKenna could be in sometimes I guess, and although I'm thinking Biancone could be a player everyone both likes and rates an alternative back 3 of Worrall-Niakhate-McKenna might be used, and since I'm putting them in the squad (or equivalents that Forest might buy instead, as I've just come up with them myself) then I'll say also Winks, Ceballos and Sallai would be options as 1st choice players too, depending how the team was set up, how they settled in etc....
1 Dean Henderson (loan)
2 Issa Kabore (loan)
3 Harry Toffolo
4 Joe Worrall
5 Steve Cook
6 Scott McKenna
7 Lewis Grabban
8 James Garner
9 Taiwo Awoniyi
10 Morgan Gibbs-White
11 Joe Aribo
12 Jordan Smith
13 Wayne Hennessey
14 Ryan Yates
15 Moussa Niakhate
16 Harry Winks
17 Joe Lolley
18 Cafu
19 Roland Sallai
20 Brennan Johnson
21 Ruben Vinagre (loan)
22 Neco Williams
23 Giulian Biancone
24 Sam Surridge
25 Dani Ceballos (loan)

I suppose the rule to be remembered is no more than 8 non-homegrown players isn't it? I think that squad above is a little under that (might just be Awoniyi, Niakhate, Cafu, Sallai, Biancone, Ceballos?).

Ok, guess away (including squad numbers if you like and if they are to be decided from scratch)!

I think I messed up my own guess, because I thought I'd counted up 25 with Colback to be honest but obviously not!

I would guess he'll probably be in it, so I'll say instead of Vinagre, Ceballos, Winks or Cafu from my original squad.

I wouldn't be that surprised if Lolley wasn't there, but I'm thinking it might take another new signing of a winger or versatile attacking mid or forward for him to move on elsewhere (rather than for example Mighten being in instead). Similar with Grabban up front (and how much would we spend on another striker with other positions in more urgent need of new players, assuming Forest intend the current record signing to be a 1st choice rather than rotation option or backup?). Surridge being in would depend on no more forwards/strikers than envisaged being signed up maybe too.

I could say you could get away with not actually putting Brennan Johnson on the list. I'd say he could probably be able to fall under the U21 list given that he was born after 1st Januaray 2001.

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what I meant:whistle:

Colback number 26 for my list then.

I'll leave it to anyone else who fancies a go now - good chance to get closer than my effort probably!

This Orsic we're apparently linked to fits the bill on that one by the looks of it (as a supporting forward or AM who can play from the left)

At this stage probably I should be predicting O'Brien instead of a Winks or Ceballos (or equivalent), or maybe Colback or Cafu, it seems. I might have over-cooked it with central midfield playmakers before anyway, although personally I'd like to see us get a couple at least, potentially including Garner - Joe, or Joel or whatever his name is!
There were so many Joes on my mind I got confused originally I think, or it's just I'm iffy on short-term memory now in my middle age (despite knowing it was James Garner really!).
I do quite like the idea of Garner as midfield anchor behind two CM/AMs given we have 3 CBs behind, although maybe that'd be only for some games and probably it's more likely the plan is to have a two like last season, at the base. I'd see O'Brien more as a Yates/Colback alternative, or upgrade, than a Garner(in theory Winks, Ceballos etc) alternative, but maybe if we did have enough creativity from attacking midfield and plenty of pace supporting the striker then he could play a kind of Guedioura role where he joins in and progresses the ball forwards etc, but yeah I still like the idea of a proper midfield playmaker being in there I think.

That applies to a few more I think then to be fair doesn't it, including Garner potentially?

Maybe when I counted 25 including Colback it was without Vinagre, since Colback, Williams, Biancone "can play left back" (O'Brien too as left wing-back potentially?), but it could be viable not to have Colback in a 25 if O'Brien did sign maybe - assuming a few will be passing the under-21 criteria although not actually under 21 though then that allows a bigger squad in reality and more room for Colback, Cafu, Lolley etc to be in it if they're still here. Cafu I thought did pretty well as a progressive link player at times when he came on last season - I don't really see a problem with him being here if we've got these extra slots for under-21 players too anyway (unless we end up with 8 non-homegrown players without him).
