Nasty sounding incident at the b team game against Alfreton for one of the young lads Archie Whitehall. Match abandoned and had to be taken by ambulance. One of my mates at the game sent me this

"Big lad up front for Alfreton took a run up and smashed straight through the forest player in the air, landed badly on his head. Never got up and got stretched off. Horrible challenge knew exactly what he was trying to do"

That's the problem with these games, there's always someone trying to make a name for themselves".

I just saw the tweet that the game was abanadoned for the injury and wondered what it could be that was so bad it was abandoned. Guess I know now. Jeez.

Absolutely. Crazy decision to even play them, was it not Carvalho who got absolutely clattered by one of their meathead players not that many seasons ago?
It was, and the fụcking lump who did him shamelessly dined out on it for weeks afterwards. Why we continued with the arrangement to play our B-team games at that shithole I'll never understand.

I have just done the maths, we would have finished with 45 points last season (41 with deduction) if games had finished on the 70th minute. Both would have had us 14th.

So a net total of 9 points dropped between the 70th & 90th min. I imagine it was the same, if not worse the season before.

Interesting stat for last season that is, and gives justification to needing more depth.

And I had a quick look at the season before as I thought you'd be wrong with your assertion, as my memory had us finishing games strongly, but looking at the games it was pretty much whatever the result at 60 minutes was the result at the end of the game. If Forest were winning, we doggedly held onto that win, if we were losing we lost meekly.

The spurs game springs to mind. Bang in it at half time-should have been winning. Spurs bring on 2 prem experienced
Prem midfielders to change things -make immediate impact. We then take off MGW and Wood, presumably tires legs and put Origi and other fringe midfielders on-zero attacking threat.

Apparently the kid is recovering well.

Imagine our preseason alfreton town friendly has something to do with our kids playing matches there?

Here’s a comparison of the 23/24 and 24/25 Pre Seasons

2023/24
Notts County 0-1 Forest
Valencia 1-0 Forest
Levante 1-2 Forest
Forest 0-2 Leeds
PSV 1-0 Forest
Forest 0-5 Rennes
Eintracht Frankfurt 0-0 Forest

2024/25
Chesterfield 0-3 Forest
Forest 1-1 Sunderland
Forest 2-1 Millwall
Elche 1-0 Forest
Forest 0-0 Villarreal
Olympiacos 3-4 Forest

Overall a much better pre season - Squad is settling well - There is actual passing sequences - we seem to be good playing in tight spaces. Look decent on the counter. Let’s hope it translates into a Decent season.

So far a good pre season with decent players coming in and the football being fine so far.
Come Saturday we will see exactly where we are and think we have nothing to fear from any other Prem side this year.
Very happy so far. 3 points to kick the season off with will do wonders for the confidence going forward.

Chesterfield game: video ok but what a lack-lustre commentary and Julian Bennett had a shocker
Sunderland; Millwall; Elche: fixed camera position and Spanish internet combined to give a poor viewing experience and the commentary team were on tranquillisers and Sangria by the sound of it
Villarreal was at the WFCG and at least the picture quality was better, but video is best suited for live streaming “action”
Olympiacos was a game of 2 halves, with the stream in the 1st half virtually unwatchable but a half-time ear bashing given to the technical team worked wonders. The addition of Paul Anderson to the commentary team was appreciated by insomniac subscribers: he made an exciting 2nd half sound like he was reading from a novel by Charlotte Brontë

There was a stat last season that under Nuno we only scored a goal after the 65th or so minute that impacted the result of a game (turn a draw into a win or a loss into a draw) once, Vs Man Utd.

I don't think Nuno was blameless for that, but his bench options were never great and this pre season appears to have addressed this
