Poland v England

Glad it's gone ahead so quick, imagine most of the English fans are already home though.

Early on and the Poles looking dangerous on the break

I hope the FA prioritise the compensation for Scouse England fans. After all they will be the real victims.

I think Alan Green orgasmed as Poland equalised

England will look on that as a good point as arguably Poland were the better side.

Milner, Garrard and Carrick is not a midfield blessed with pace!

Maybe we just have to accept that England teams can't pass a football. Good point though.

Really do not understand why we give the ball away so much and so cheaply. Bizarre.

Rooney was dreadful.

Also heard that Carrick got a pass completion rate of 26%.

Cleverly, Milner not good enough. Need to be replaced if we are to have a chance at the World Cup.

I thought Stevie G was superb. It takes a lot of class to jog around the middle of the pitch playing 5 yard passes!

Anybody else have that moment when Lescott lumped another long ball aimlessly up the pitch, and just as you thought f***ing hell Lescott, somebody on the telly said exactly the same thing

So much for those who thought Hodgson was going to go with the next generation. The average age of that team last night must have been around 27-28. Cleverley was the only one you'd call a youngster (and he wouldn't get a sniff if he wasn't at Utd).

A european team has never won the World Cup on South American soil and I don't even fancy the Spanish for the next one in Brazil nevermind the current England shambles. England have zero chance of winning it. It's time to write it off and simply use this campaign for experience. Ditch Cole, Lescott, Jageilka, Gerrard, Milner, Johnson, Defoe, Lampard and anyone approaching or above 30 and if he continues as he currently is ditch the dinosaur Hodgson. It's time to move on. It's only way forward.

Actually the average age of the team that finished against San Marino was 24 and I suspect it would only be marginally more last night. Roy brought on an 18 year old and a 21 year old later in the game.

The question is more whether the younger players are good enough.

I think some of the very young (Ox-Cham, Butland, Sterling) may well be but those who should be coming into the prime of their careers (the 26-29 year olds) - Johnson, Milner etc. really aren't.

That's a big gap to bridge.

We will do as we always do, qualify then under-perform at the World Cup. Last night's display was poor, and there isn't any reason to believe that we will get any better.

At least we now have a good manager. However, there's no getting round the fact that we don't produce enough good players to be a major force at international level. Most of the players with technical ability in the Prem are foreign. But we've been having the same debate about England since I started watching football though, so I can't see it improving in the near future.

Mostly expectations are too high. We are a top 8 team who, on average are good for a QF place. No shame in that. Probably better to accept it rather than the usual ridiculous over hyping that goes on

I don't get the Milner hate, for me he's like Cohen but with a lot more skill, you need someone like him in the team, thought he was one of the better players yesterday. If A.Hole is the best left back in the world then there must be a serious worldwide left back shortage, I'd rather have Baines now. I've been wanting some of the older players dropped since Africa but there simply isn't anyone to replace them. Carrick and Lescott were awful, its almost as if if your english and play for Man U, City, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea you must automatically be good enough for the England team.

Milner is only in the team as we can't find a Right Back who's decent at attacking AND defending.

Me either. He's no world beater, but worth a place in the squad and with a RB like Johnson the ideal man to help out defensively. I think the fact that he's just not a typical right winger leaves some people puzzled as to what he contributes when he's not skipping past players. Those with a more broader view on the game can see that he actually contributes more than a lot give him credit for.

There isn't ONE England player I'd personally have in a World 11.

Not within a Country mile of it.

All that talent that we did have but which was wasted under the likes of Sven, McClaren, Cappello etc. - what a waste.

The English game's f**ked until we re-develop that mentality which the likes of Psycho were reared with, have players playing to win instead of to be celebs, and thin out the amount of foreigners which we have in the leagues.
