Yet, funnily enough, I've been out with a few mates for my birthday, which is on Monday , and one of my mates, who is also a Forest fan, was bemoaning just how quickly Forest Focus has changed from being the only podcast that was quite measured about performances- good or bad- to a podcast that blows hot and cold with the results.

We were trying to work out what is worse: mat Davies' Marvin the Paranoid Android impression or Satah Clapson 's Cartesian internal monologue.

We didn't reach a conclusion but agreed it was pretty desperate

Maybe the previous pod had some restrictions? Lord knows but the amount of scathing remarks from some people on the podcast since its inception is remarkable.

I have thought about that, as being the onscreen host he relies on regular guests for the real content and opinion (its done that way by his design). its not as if he is sellling himself as the brand ie Mark Goldbridge, but he's selling it as GR.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but it just cant be making enough money to share out to guests. From what i can see the viewing numbers dont add up on youtube to be able too (eg he's literally million miles away from Mark Goldbridge numbers). no idea on the podcast platforms, but the fact GR is heavily pushing people to become a YouTube member tells me that he's focusing on that.

again this is my worry for it. nobody wants to listen to a pod that spends time talking about stuff you cant see and i doubt he's savvy enough to edit those bits out.

which is also why its a little jarring to me that his setup is still so amateurish for a youtube channel.
sort out a decent backdrop (even if its just a filter), position yourself in front of the camera so that we can see you and your not slouching or hiding behind the mic, stop the laptop from wobbling on the table.
we are now your customers he should be taking this feedback seriously if he wants a career from this! The youtube comments are full of posts commenting about the sound quailty and Garry using a phone pointing up his own nose etc

I could bang on for hours about youtube and all the do's and donts. but i'm not going to bore you all with that 😄

I’ve no idea how many different forest forums or Facebook groups there are but I’d be making it my business to lurk on them and get this type of feedback if I were him.

If he doesn’t then he’ll be back at Reach before you can say “I agree”. Or somewhere else, which would probably be an improvement in fairness.

Robbie Earnshaw is perhaps the worst player turned pundit to date. It’s like the good players don’t make good managers trope. Players generally make shit pundits. I’d much rather listen to a sports writer/reporter, someone who does it for a living.

There’s a bit in that episode where they’re talking about the issue with the wall. Robbie Earnshaw says it should be the guy on the end of the wall taking charge. He then says “I’ve done it, I’ve been in that situation and I’ve done it”.

No offence to Rob, but if he’s part of a wall, how short were the rest of the team?

He’s short enough to slide under the belly of a snake wearing a top hat FFS, they just make shit up 😂

I did listen to the first Garibaldi Gazette episode for my sins...actually it was a decent listen and Arsha seemed less annoying than before, he actually made me laugh once. Will give it a fair go, seems well put together.

Ali was talking rubbish about non football things but overall as a once a week podcast I think this’ll be the one I go with. All the other ones just repeat what we already know from here endlessly because there’s so many episodes.

i think with the recent explosion in Forest podcasts i've had my fill, the 2nd episode of the Gazette thingy grinded my gears for being overly.....i don't even know the word, smug? trying too hard to be funny?

Or rather i'm just a miserable f**ker now

I thought that one was decent too. I thought he was a forest supporting journo at first because he also knew a fair bit about us and seems to regularly watch Matts podcast.

Probably just took me by surprise that he's one of the few journalists that seem to seek out information himself to be well informed rather than just rehash twitter rumours

Interesting to hear what he thought occurred with Mangala. Forest/Nuno identified that Mangala could go-speak to agents they then band him around Europe hoping to get a bite! Seems Yates was put forward at start of window but no bites or enough money. It’s a world where there must be all sorts going on but as fans we only get snippets.
