Murillo for me, without some of his goal line clearances we would be in the bottom 3.

MGW is an easy answer but don’t forget he had spells, especially in the first third of the season, where he was pretty poor.
Overall he has been fantastic but I don’t think he has carried us as much as he did last year. But he would still be a worthy winner if he does come out on top.

Chris Wood.

For quite a chunk of the season he was statistically the best finisher in Europe and the best per 90 minutes scorer in the Premier League.

His goals (and him playing through injury/fatigue) is the number one reason we are still in the PL.

For me there’s 3 stand out candidates. Murillo, CHO and MGW.
I’ve voted MGW because he’s had overall an excellent season. He’s our beating heart of the team and for his sheer will to give 100%. If anything he has to rein it in a bit and compose himself a bit more on occasion.

Problem with the Wood/Haaland comparison is that when H misses, someone else pops up with the goods. We all know what happens when Woody misses, we lose.

CHO has just gotten better and better since starting regularly and has become our main (only?) threat in the final third.

Elanga was electric before his injury too, and 5 goals / 8 assists in 24 starts / 11 subs is excellent for a team staying up on goal difference.

Has to be MGW for me though. He has gone missing in some games but he's run others, and just staying fit all season gets you a gold star at Forest.

So there's more pressure on Wood so his relatively better finishing rate is even more impressive.

In all seriousness, I voted for Chris Wood (which feels mental considering I didn't rate him at all at the start of the season!). Without his goals we'd be looking at Championship football next season right now. Stepped up to the plate when Taiwo got injured and did what we needed him to.

I've voted for the player who has most exceeded my expectations at the start of the year. Ola Aina has been standout all season except for one game. He was a big miss with Afcon.

He is an exceptional one on one defender, gets forward much better than he's given credit for, and is a true team player. I genuinely struggle to think of many better full backs in the Prem. If he didn't look so laid back all the time he'd surely be at a club challenging for Europe. Get him tied down to a new contract.

Honourable mentions to Neco, CHO, MGW, Murillo, Tony, Sels, and Wood.

We've been better than our points tally shows, but a huge dose of self sabotage and some unhelpful officiating have torpedoed us a little. Fingers crossed both issues resolve themselves next season.

I was tempted to vote for Aina but I feel MGW and Murillo are just ahead overall. Voted for Murillo.

Yep, Aina is low key one of the better full backs in the prem. Reminds me of Ryan Ait-Nouri at Wolves who is better going forward but not as good defensively. He's able to step into midfield and help drive the play. Every player makes mistakes but he's just so composed both defending and attacking. Absolutely must sign for next season. You cannot buy players of that quality on our budget.

Murillo for me. I know our defence has been all at sea this year but without him we would be lying at the bottom of the sea. The amount of times he has suddenly appeared from nowhere when a goal looked certain has been unreal.

It was a close run thing between him and MGW for me.

Murillo has been fantastic, but Gibbs-White has been everpresent and pretty much our most impactful player.

It's not letting me check the percentages any more so I can't present any more Matt Turner updates

Why don't they do this before the last home game of the season so that the player can be presented with their award in front of the crowd. I am sure they used to do this. I seem to remember the late, great Larry Lloyd receiving his award on matchday and also Psycho on more than one occasion.

It's all about 17th...
Yates for me, wudda won it we a country mile if he'd started all games.

And we'd be further up the table.

Ahhh well, thul learn.

In the league, we have so far conceded 66 goals, and scored 47. If it wasn’t for certain players in the defence, we would have conceded far more, we would have a much weaker goal difference and we would be bricking it more than we are doing approaching Sunday. That’s why I voted for Murillo. We might be lucky and score a couple of goals a game, but we are more likely to concede more than score, and Murillo has kept the goals conceded number down. MGW is the luxury, Murillo is the absolute necessity.
