Philip Aksel Frigast Zinckernagel

While he was cheap I'm surprised at the 'should have kept him' thing - he was good on his day and worked hard but blew hot and cold. He'd also been not good enough for the Prem by his last lot (escapes me now - Watford was it). Handsome chap mind.

Gave the ball away far too easily in the Championship. I don't think he'd have made the step up. You could never fault his effort though.

On a free in the summer

Might be different if the creative onus wasn't on him. Works hard, good technique. I think he gave the ball away a lot because he was asked to take chances. Don't see how he'd fit in back with us, unless as backup to MGW, or on the wing, but never doubted his commitment.

Probably suggests he still isn't very good
I think that's a bit harsh. He might not be a PL starter, but I'd say he's a very good player. Of course, we're obviously looking to actively improve positions, but I think he's a decent squad option for a lower-mid table PL side.

Also gets to live in the second best city this country has to offer

Good for him. Loved Zinc and his unbelievable recovery runs.

Played and scored for the MLS/Forest Promotion All Stars yesterday alongside Sam Surridge and Richie Laryea.

Beat the Mexican equivalent (who had no ex Reds in the squad) 4-3.

Also, superb kit.

I have missed our Danish prince. Kinda followed him at Club Brugge but then he went off to Norway when they bought Tzolis and then to the MLS. I loved him as a player, and he was IMO probably the most handsome guy we've had at Forest since I've been a supporter. Yes, more than your Felipes and Savonas.

What about your Carlos'? 😭

Not keeping him when we were so short on proven talent upon promotion was ****in stupid. 10x the player of 'cheerleader' Lingard. Loved him as a player & think he deserved a shot in the PL.

Captain hindsight ahoy........

Disagree.

His output was poor in the Championship in a reasonably free scoring side.

There's been enough evidence in the past couple of years of how well promoted Championship teams signing Championship quality players do in the PL.

Lingard was a hindsight mistake but that's a mutually exclusive argument.

I liked him and would’ve kept him for the first season in the PL even if it was just for his work rate and for some stability in terms of the playing staff.

He was erratic but when he was on it he was great. Big part of that promotion side.
It took him a while to make an impression on me but by the end of that season I was really sad to see him go.

To think if you'd have asked me that Summer I'd rather have kept Zinck than spent £40m on MGW haha.
I guess that's how wrong you can be.

I always thought there was a reason why Watford loaned him out to us 6 months after signing him and just after they had got promotion...
