Our Current Squad's Best Eleven

Alright, so with grumblings about the rotation policy and potentially PM not knowing his best team, I'm curious to see whether we as Forest fans know it.
Bare in mind, we play either a 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1 formation so keep that in mind when you are picking but based on the players currently at our club.

For 4-2-3-1, this is me.
Stojkovic

Lichaj -- Mancienne -- Perquis -- Pinillos

Vaughan -- Lam

Pereira -- Lansbury -- Carayol

Assombalonga

For 4-1-4-1, I'd go with this.

Pereira -- Lansbury -- Kasami -- Carayol

I'd be tempted to swap Lam for Vaughan but that's a really good side.

433 should be in the mix, given Montanier has played it numerous times this season.

Stojk
Lichaj Mancienne Perquis Pinillos
Cash Lam Lansbury
Pereira Assombalonga Osborn

No Osborn, yet he is the player who's been virtually ever present under PM.

'Doesn't know his best team' is not only an outdated cliché, it also assumes that we live in an ideal world where players are never injured and always at peak fitness. The two teams in the OP include players who are unlikely to feature much in the coming months due to injury and regaining fitness, thus demonstrating the disconnect between the ideal world of 'best teams' and the reality of a 50 game season.

Also, the people complaining about rotation last night tend to be the same people who say, 'you don't change a winning team'. Being as we'd lost three in a row I would have thought 'change a losing team' also applies?

I would say Stojkovic, Perquis, Mancienne, Perreira, Lansbury, Osborn, Kasami are all key players, but of them only Vlad might play every game. Assombalonga, Bendtner would be key players if fully fit.

The 4-1-4-1 is the 4-3-3. When we have the ball the wide players are forwards.

It's just our best side, obviously without injuries, fitness etc taken account of. ATM I'd have Osborn in the side as his tenacity helps but if that work rate is pulled up by others then you can carry a more flair player. It's completely hypothetical.

A one striker formation doesn't make much sense when you have three quality strikers at the club, and a lack of dynamic midfield talent. Hopefully we start to give two strikers a go soon

This is very strong, perhaps with Cohen sharing the spot with Vaughan as both can get injured easily, and use Vellios when Britt is out.

However you line us up I'd say our par is around the 12th position. The main X factor which would change that being Bendtner and Britt. Even then I'd say a playoff push is only an outside bet at utmost best (so getting luck with injuries & decisions)

Surprized how many think some of these sides are "strong". I'd say OK, maybe good-ish. Not a patch on teams like Norwich, Newcastle, Wendies etc.

Where do you think our par was last season Alf?

It's Baggio

John Robertson
I like the look of Lam but strange to see so many picking him in midfield. He played there for half an hour in a pretty poor performance at Villa. Whereas Vaughan and Cohen have both had very good games this season in a defensive midfield position.

Considering our wingers dont look up to much, I'd suggest our strongest team would be a 4-4-2: Vlad; Lichaj, Mancienne, Perquis, Pinillos; Pereira, Lansbury, Cohen, Osborn; Bendtner, Britt.

Mr RayReardon

Jack Burkitt
Ok, with Britt and Bendtner fit. I'd plump for this..

vlad

Lichaj Mance Perquis Pillinos (Fox until fit)

Perriera Cohen Lans Osborn (giving run outs to Vaughan/Cash/Carayol as and when)

The Lord Britt

I know it's the old 4-4-2 but unless we can find a genuinely forward thinking midfielder to play alongside Lansbury then i'd rather have four in the middle rather than five doing the job of four.

I wonder whether Perreira might feature more in the middle of the pitch.. He certainly switched there for a while last night leaving Benny out left. Barely touched the ball though

Think Pereiras feeling the weight of expectation. Thought he tried too hard when he came on, to the point he could bearly keep his feet.

Very surprised he started on an unfamiliar left side, then shifted centrally, when he looks to be much more dangerous on the right.

Wha
Agreed, mate. Like any sub though, he probably came on wanting to change the game and perhaps tried a little too hard. Whatever his position, he'd be in my best 11.

I actually thought our midfield that played against Brentford away might be our best. That was a 5 of Perreria (right) Kasami, Lans, Vaughan (middle) and Benny (left). Played quite well and were unlucky to lose. Although, in fairness we upped our game when Burke came on... nevermind!

You beat me to it Chriscl - I would have Bendtner alongside Britt. Always like two up front. Interim, I'd have Fox or Cohen at LB.
I'd also have a change in defensive duties; we HAVE to stop opposing teams keeping 'outlets' wide, who can receive the ball and have all the time in the world to get the cross in. Fox comes under criticism but surely he has been told to tuck in?

Lam Lica Hobbs would all do a job, as would Osborn Cash and Grant.

Unfortunately its now illegal to play 4-4-2 unless you want to win the Prem...

Given that there have been 23 posts and about 23 teams selected, I don't see how anyone can complain about Phil's selections.

After all, he's allowed an opinion just the same as the rest of us.
