I like team A but from what we’ve seen I don’t think Cooper is brave enough to try that away from home. Also Wood might actually have more of a chance in this formation.

I like that set up. Bring it on.

0-2, back to good times and optimism.

Stay safe to the travelling fans. See you there although I will be squirrelled away in a gin drinking portion of the stadium - the pain we go through to try and see the Mighty Trees. Disinfectant and brillo pads at the ready for when I get back.

I'm just workshopping here, but being as Murillo is our best player and has incredible skills to dribble past people and pass it as well as being a good defender. Is there a case for reverting to a back 5 but with Murillo as a roving centre half?

I'm thinking:
Turner
Felipe Murillo Niakate
Williams Mangala Danilo Aina
MGW Elanga
Wood

Cho and Origi have shown nothing in their recent sub appearances to suggest they are due a start.
Rather unfair to judge both in this way:
1 CHO: was going really will until getting injured, and is now being used as a sub to get minutes into his legs before returning him to the starting XI. Those minutes have been precious few. He was clearly fouled against Brighton, and the ref was spot on. If he hadn't been dragged back he would probably have scored. Yesterday he came on into a team playing badly. He did OK, but after beating his man, he looks up and sees no one in the box to lay-off to, and Wood is somewhere back in the distance arguing a point with the referee.
2 Origi: a striker needs a run of games not only to get match fit, but also to get goal sharp. Origi has not had the benefit of such a run. Wood gets the shirt game after game. Origi is reputedly our biggest earner. Surely, judgement should be reserved until he has had 3 consecutive games where he starts.

I am going to be controversial here!
The Greek Dracula, and the American Nervous Nelly are not good enough: both are liabilities.
I would go with:

----------------Hennessey------------
Aina Felipe Murillo Niakhate Toffolo
------------Yates (Capt)--------------
-----Mangala --------Dominguez--
---------------Danilo
-------------------Origi--------------
Logic:
1 Hennessey despite some abberrant moments, has acquitted himself mostly quite well - certainly better than the Greek flapper, and Nervous Nelly;
2 I did think about playing Williams instead of toffolo, but it seems wrong to drop toffolo who is arguably our most consistent performer at left back;
3 I don't believe Sangare has recovered from the virus sufficiently to play a game so soon after the Everton game, and Yates gives everything plus he is "one of our own";
4 Dominguez has the box to box engine: surely he has done his pennance for the awful mistake against Wet Sham;
5 Danilo (if fit) needs to be on the pitch if he is going to regain the great form at the back end of last season, and MGW is currently not firing on all cyclinders (and hasn't been all season);
5 Origi... if Wood is picked again, i will put my boot through the telly!
6 Bench: Turner, Worrall, Williams, Hudson-Odoi, Elanga, Montiel, Aurier, Osong, Aguilera

So, Sangare and MGW not even on the bench because of illness and form respectively - both need rests!
Forest to win 2-0.

Coops probably knows he needs a win pretty fast and it's likelier to be easier at Fulham than home to Spurs..

And yes Wood could play in that 4231, just feel Origi has earned his chance to start given Wood's lack of contribution last few games.

Monkman

Grenville Morris
Turner
Aina Felipe Murillo Toffolo
Sangare Mangala Dominguez
MGW Wood Elanga
This lineup is capable of playing good football, we've seen it. Just need to find it again.

Might consider CHO for Wood with MGW as false nine.

I agree but we also have wolves before spurs

Sorry Captain but Hennessey makes both Turner and Vlachodimos look like the lovechildren of Ederson and Alisson.
Being a goalie myself in my playing days, I cringe at the sight of The Greek Flapper - opponents can see he is terrible at crosses.
Plus, when the striker is at a narrow angle, you don't go low as a keeper because you invite the striker to rifle the ball into the roof of the net.
As for Turner - he is better with crosses, and a decent enough shot stopper, but opponents know he bricks it every time the ball is played towards him on the ground, and they will continue to press him as he dithers and panics.
As offspring from Ederson and Alisson, they appear to be hampered by a genetic mutation.

Good point, although that's probably the hardest match of the three assuming Spurs still have an injury crisis by the point we meet them.

I'm not saying they are that pair's offspring, merely that Hennessey makes them look that way. You know, by dint of being absolutely f***ing awful 🤣 Do you not remember last January before Navas arrived?

I had excised that from my brain.

2-0 Forest.
This...if we must have the comfort blanket of 3 in midfield AND the need for MGW to be central this is how I was hoping we would set up v Everton.

Sauce salad?
Lots of similar proposed sides posted, and seems I'm largely in agreement if sticking with a four at the back:

Vlachademos/Turner (- take your pick!)
Aina Felipe Murillo Toffolo
Mangala
Sangare Dominguez
MGW
CHO Elanga

I guess what I might do is this:

Vlachademos/Turner
----- Felipe Niakhate Murillo ----
Williams --Sangare -- Mangala -- Aina
--- MGW ----
CHO ------------------- Elanga

The other option with that would be Wood in as proper striker (instead of Morgan in a false nine - desperate) for one of CHO or Elanga, with the two behind playing inside forward type roles.

Glad we have an extra day on Fulham - small victories.

Exactly what I would play too. That's our best option for me.
Sounds about right, now I'd like to obviously see Yatesy in the team and we do usually play better with a striker as opposed to the false 9 but it's different from last season. Callum is a more instinctive finisher than Brennan (who was a good finisher but still) and Elanga has shown he will get goals and assists, he was our main danger last night but they parked the bus, Branthwaite and Tarkowski won basically everything and were well organised and so his end product rarely led to anything. Dyche of course managed Wood for years so knows how to play him and they countered the threat he had well. I think with those two supporting MGW the false 9 might be more effective than last season when we tried it, then we bring on Wood later if we need him, because Origi is absolute toss and does nothing.

Interesting how everyone on here is now basically saying Vlachodimos is not good enough which is what a few of us were saying already that he may not be better than Turner, with a small sample size in either case, it's clearly the case that he isn't, though I suppose we did need to find that one out. And that actually the weakness has been very well highlighted on many posts on here in the last 24h and that most people are picking Turner in their teams again. Whilst I do of course agree with this (and with the sentiment that Turner isn't the answer long term either) what's the betting scooper will keep playing him?
