Did you actually say this before the season started though, that we will likely be relegated?

Did you say the same mid season during our good run too?

Or are you just saying it now because its easier?

Genuine question, I didnt see a single person state either, at either time, but now its all of a sudden been obvious and everyone that didnt realise is a bit daft.

I think there were a fair few posters on here who thought it would be a bit of a miracle if we stayed up.

When the player recruitment started we were all in the the stage of wonder that we were in the Prem at last after such a miraculous season and signing such super players, after the dross of the last 23 years.

Then reality began to dawn, these 'wonder' players were actually quite ordinary for the Prem, though superb to our way of thinking.

But euphoria was high, we were enchanted and to say relegation was possible seemed heresy. Even some deluded fans were hoping for top ten placing. So those who believed we might go down stayed silent.

I thought we might finish as high as 10th - but that was based around having full squad available to us and showing signs of clicking early doors - thought we played really well vs Spurs even though we lost and there was evidence there of a solid mid-table team.

Injuries have hurt, and the January transfer window has unbalanced us. Based on those mitigating circumstances and a healthy dose of hindsight I think an expected finish should be anywhere between 14th and 19th.

I'd feel a lot better about our situation if our bad run of form had come a little bit earlier and with injured players returning we'd just climbed out of the bottom three, rather than just about to go into it.
