Crikey, just getting around to appreciate the ball from Murillo for Wood's 3rd. Pinged as sweetly as he could. Scholesque.
Yeah, they focussed on how well Wood had timed his run, but, the weight of that pass was glorious.

I think I've mentioned it before, but he reminds me of quite a bit of David Alaba but with a more solid frame and better heading ability.

Alaba has been one of the best defenders in recent times.

Left footed, always an attacking threat and scores goals too, which I think Murillo will add to his game in time.

Just got around to MOTD, and everyone was very complimentary. Shearer loved Chris Wood's centre forward play and murphy loved elanga.
Fully expected the PMA to be a detailed dissection of Newcastle's failings with (maybe) a quick 'well done Forest' from shitty-arse to close and show balance. Quite the opposite.

I seem to be one of the few that has consistently felt that Wood was class and that Forest would finish the season mid table so I'm a happy bunny right now.

Forest looked so exciting on Tuesday albeit against a poor Newcastle side who are struggling with injuries and loss of form. However, I have said it before and I'll say it again, Wood and Elanga have the ability to change our season. There are 8 points between us and Bournemouth in tenth spot. We can bridge that gap. Tenth is possible.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves again.

Anything above 18th is fine, the odd Chris Wood goal in 3 games is fine.

My flight was delayed so managed to see the Wood hattrick before my third abs final warning to put my phone in flight mode.

Incredible result at a crucial time.

I completely understood Cooper's ultra pragmatic approach but Nuno took the correct gamble against a tired Newcastle side and it will have reminded much of the side what they're capable of.

Yes we rode our luck at times but sometimes you have to, and we know Danilo and Aina can do much better so good that they got the minutes to find some form hopefully.

If we had signed Chris Wood as a complete unknown two games ago, he'd be being touted as a future CL player now. Obviously the system suits him but is this the first time he's been fit since he has been here? Is his contract up in summer too? That got Matty Derbyshire firing I remember, hopefully Wood will keep it up after (sorry).

Im not buying all this "Newcastle were poor" bollocks either. The tactics were absolutely spot on yesterday and we murdered them.

Round pegs round holes. I hope that means we never see MGW out wide again, he was absolutely brilliant, they all were.

It was a very brave performance and its pretty obvious that Nuno has a plan to get them to express themselves for more than we saw under Coops.

Long may it continue.

I wore the new „Desert Storm“ warmup shirt during the game yesterday.

Might have to wear it again when Forest play!

Murphy got it spot on, and I think its something that Nuno and our analysts will have spotted in the build up.
By playing Burn at left back, they played into our hands, as it allowed Elanga to just go at him. As I saw a comment on twitter, if you'd put Texaco on Burns shirt yesterday, you could have flogged oil from him, as he was that 'slow'.
Also, I think Howes stubbornness to play a more adventurous team at home, left the centre of the field open, expecting us to blast down the wings at them, whereas, we did the opposite.
They play without a holding midfielder, and as the 3 they played in the middle were more aggressive attacking wise, MGW sat on Bruno for most of the time, frustrating him by closing him down and limiting his space, and as such, they pushed further forward, which, especially for the first goal, allowed us to break quickly the other way.
Yesterday showed exactly how having a more versatile holding player allows us to play through the lines quickly, especially when you see the passes that were played out in the build to the first 2 goals. Both were 10 yard passes to allow MGW and Elanga to run and attack, and catch the Newcastle players out.
If this is the way we're going to approach playing other teams, then, expect some fun :D

I think that’s our best performance since promotion, a few weeks ago we would’ve imploded after the penalty but not today.

We still need to alter the squad in January but so far Nuno is getting more out of the squad than we thought was possible.
The difference between yesterday and our other away performances was stark.
