New Sub-Forum, „Opposition Fans‘ Comments Archive“!

Ladies and Gentlemen;

You may notice a new Sub-Forum beneath „Forest Banter“, which is cleverly-called the „Opposition Fans‘ Comments Archive“.

This Sub-Forum - as you might have guessed - is intended to be an archive of the various threads cobbled-together from comments on opposing teams‘ forums, which we have come to know and love. Keeping them all in one place for posterity, we thought was a good thing.

These threads are often hilarious, depressing, salty, and angry, in equal part.

The custom was started by the sadly recently departed Forum Member @Calvin Plummer, who thought it an excellent idea to trawl opposing fans views and present them here.

So, then, we built this as an Archive, it is - much like „Forest Gold“ - read-only, so the threads can be preserved in all their glory. The threads themselves will continue to be created in „Forest Banter“ as normal, then we will move them to this new Archive some days after the relevant match.

Thanks go to current forum members @eezzeetiger, @forestzoe and @HBB for carrying on the torch and keeping the idea alive, every week.

And we dedicate this new sub-forum to Calvin, with thanks for a truly magnificent idea!

Nice touch.

I trawled through the oldest comments thread which was when we played Brentford under Lamouchi.

One of the comments is about Forest being like an old geezer in the pub who talks about his trials for West Ham back in the day, and that on the rise clubs like Brentford care not a jot.

I don't know why, that one just felt like something Calvin would have picked out and chuckled about.

@Strummer Incidentally, I was thinking the other day that it'd be tidier for there to be a sub-forum for our current player threads as it makes them easier to find, like there is already for ex-players and the transfer rumours. Is that something the team could think about?

We can think about it, yes. We have had that discussion before however, and from a majority vote, we decided that it was better for „new“ signings‘ threads to move into „Forest Banter“ once their signing was confirmed, and there they stay.

I am conscious if we aren‘t careful, we would end up with a huge number of sub-forums, and nothing in „Forest Banter“, which was one of the reasons why we didn‘t go down that route for current players.

Maybe the sub forum can be renamed "Calvin's Corner" for the rest of the season in honour of the recent passing of our forum member.
