This took me back to the 80s and the blatantly London-biased reports by Jeff Powell in the Daily Mail, which my dad, for reasons best known to himself, chose to have delivered…
That name elicited an immediate ptsd response. My old man also read the Mail, and I always dreaded seeing a Forest report written by that tool Powell. I don't think he ever penned a single positive line about Forest.

I remember when we won at Arsenal for the first time in years/decades in the 1980s and he was clearly annoyed by it and gave us no credit whatsoever. No idea how he ever got to write for a purportedly national newspaper (nor why my dad bought the rag).

Forest are as exciting as cold fish and chips oŕ something along those lines, another clueless reporter.

Yes,I went to that game for an early kick-off on Boxing Day 1987 and Forest gave a resilient performance to
win 2-0 but received criticism in the press from some quarters.
Luckily things got even better as we beat Arsenal at Highbury in the FA Cup later that season and won there 3-1
in the league the following campaign.

Punching Forest players = acceptable according to the mighty PGMOL and FA.

Maddison got away with last year, Jackson this year.

"Mr Puddle", as Brian Clough used to call him

I just don’t get that
Jackson had been substituted - he illegally entered the field of play and hit a player.
How can that not be punished?

I also went and remember the article well because I wrote to Brian Glanville after and contrasted his report which was very balanced with Powells. I was surprised to receive a great reply from BG(who I considered to be a great football reporter) which I only found a few months ago.He wrote:
“ Certainly I thought Forest much the more effective team at Highbury, which was the more impressive in that the loss of Nigel Clough had colossal consequences; as indeed, alas, it still has.”

Lunchtime Boxing Day 87 and walking home after watching a local game with no idea of the score. Found a phone box and rang clubcall to find out the score. Money ran out after hearing Terry Wilson had scored so still had no idea if we'd won.

I agree he should be but f*** it, it doesn't benefit us for him to be banned. if anything having him available for Newcastle and Man united means he can play against our rivals for a conference league spot 😉

Chelsea (unused) subs warmed up on the pitch while the ball was in play down the other end.

Small cramped pitch. But still.

Doesn't appear to be illegal. But don't recollect seeing it before.

Maybe more noticeable because 5 players can now warm up together

This game was delayed by twenty three hours, not for broadcast, but to allow Chelsea players to recover from their European game in midweek. Interesting they had an entirely different starting eleven in midweek from Sunday.

We must look after the overworked players at ‘elite’ clubs!!
