Match of the Day

His job is to talk abut football, can you retire from that job? I think he should have just said "quitting".

But Hanson was a very knowledgeable voice on MOTD, and my fear like many is that they'll replace him with some dire non personality.

I guess you can but my idea of retirement is someone who has spent 45 - 50 years on a windswept site and is finally resting up for a few years pre death. Not someone who has spent the last 22 years picking up over a million quid a year to attend a studio for a few hours once a week and be taken to every world cup and european championship on expenses to go on the piss, play golf and to talk football.

They should just show the games. I don't care what Shearer thinks or yellow card specialist Savage. Hanson was the only one who had anything remotely interesting to say.

I shall miss Alan Hansen.

But don't worry; I'll reload and hit the c*nt with my next shot.

Lucky bastard.

I liked Colin Murray's Friday Show on 5Live. Dan Walker's show is so far a bit dull. Gone to Talksport or somewhere daft like that now though hasn't he?

These days we have two former Eire captain's giving expert opinions on England matches. Unusual.

The best thing about itv football coverage is Chiles always tends on Twitter, and when you click on his name, it's a never ending feast of insulting and very funny tweets. I've never read a single one that isn't slagging him off.

Apart from Adrian 'talk to the viewers like they're 5 years old' Chiles. Hate his presenting style.

I'm not sure he's doing that intentionally, he seems to be genuinely thick when it comes to football and is a terrible presenter

How he still gets jobs I don't know.

I'd like to see Danny Baker and Danny Kelly doing MOTD. I know Danny Baker isn't everyone's cup of tea (a bit of a "marmite" type bloke), but at least it wouldn't be the borefest that it is now.

In it's day it was essential viewing, but what with Sky and the Internet it is now totally irrelevant.

I like Danny Baker. I don't imagine he's in love with the Premier League though. Would be great to hear him back on 606.

Just the way he talks about football to the viewers as if we've never watched a game before or something. I think if they replaced Chiles I'd be able to tolerate the ITV coverage a lot more.

Chiles left the BBC in a massive strop after they decided to replace him on Friday's edition of The One Show with Chris Evans.
Now he's going back to BBC Radio Five Live - replacing Peter Allen on Friday's edition of Drive.

Presenters/DJs never fail to take themselves incredibly seriously and actually believe that their 'talent' is unique.

Baker talks too much and goes off at too many tangents. He was funny though.

Didn't he get sacked for saying that Uriah was a great name for a referee when he slagged off Rennie?
