It could be worse, look at some of the shit his successor signed (and Sonner was a Hart signing). Dadi, Melville, Powell, Pedersen, Cullip, Eaden, Friio...

don't blame hart for signing sonner. sonner was a clear result of our clueless owner at the time not willing to pay anything during the summer and not strengthening after the playoffs when the likes of scimeca , brennan ,huckerby loan all left the club and we can only get sonner , journeyman freebie on the paltry salary we were willing to pay back then , wasn't that around the time hart tried to get shaun goater to come but he said no thanks to our salary offer. it was only when marlon left and dj broke his leg that our owner stump up some cash and bought out of sheer desperation in taylor and king.

Actually Taylor was signed before DJ broke his leg, someone decided that signing a target man for a passing team who had no desire at all to lump it forward or get it wide (we played a diamond so no wingers) was sensible.

Like Sonner, whether that was Hart or simply all they could afford on the budget and needed another striker remains to be seen. We signed him either in the summer or not long after the season started but I think he was injured or coming back from an injury at the time, wasn't quite ready but was on the bench as we had no-one else then DJ broke his leg and he had to come on. We didn't sign King until Harewood was sold and he cost twice as much.

Like a fair amount of the Doughty era that time simply didn't make logical sense.

If there was budget to spend 500k on Taylor why were we left scraping frees on a budget with Sonner and Gunnarsson?

The real mistake was also not renewing Scimeca and Brennan (though they were Platt signings so maybe we were paying them too much) and not getting Huckerby back when he'd been good on loan, and also letting Lester leave who was the reserve in that position at the top of the diamond (but again, Platt signing).

It's like when we had Robbie Blake and they wouldn't pay what, 300k to get him permanently, yet he signed DJ for 3.5m apparently as Michael's birthday present?

Sonner was a bad signing but nothing to do with Kinnear (though he might claim credit for it like he said he signed Krul on that interview...), I was merely stating a fact he was signed when Hart was manager.

Taylor was signed on the recommendation of DJ - who had forged a good partnership with him when he was on loan at Burnley.

I seem to remember taylor was supposedly the plan b as we had struggled to change things in a fair few games when the passing game wasn’t working. The Blake non signing was particularly ridiculous, infuriating because everyone could see he was a class act and available for next to nowt in relative terms. Don’t want to knock doughty as he’s dead and he put a lot of his own wealth in to the club but it was frustrating how he wouldn’t spend at key times when it looked like a little push would do it. But would then throw a load of money around when it was hopeless or too late. The big missed opportunities for me were summer 2003 and summer 2010.

And people accuse forest fans of living in the past

Your view doesn’t mean anything to me now I know you are numero uno Freddie Flintoff fan club member. I would put you on ignore but I want to send you vile Freddie Flintoff related abuse every once in a while. If that is ok with the mods?

I said he was the best thing to come out of Preston along with the bird I fingered, they are both in the same bracket and it is far from hero worship (you should have seen her)

A tent in Cromer if memory serves me correct. Which oddly was also the location of me losing my virginity (not the same lady and not Flintoff)

For everyone that visits Cromer now, you can smile to know that a young Carlos popped his cherry there.

Manor Farm I think it was called. Good luck with popping your cherry too!

As I’m nearly 40 and balding I think if I turn up asking where I finger a 14 year old from preston it might not end well. The freedoms we have lost since the 70’s / 80’s

There's that too. You might be better off at Butlins 80s weekend if you're after a smelly finger?

I don't think she's 14 anymore anyway so it wouldn't be the same.

From what I've seen on Facebook, she's certainly aged like a fine vinegar.

Always gutting when that happens. I went out with a girl who was 4 and half years my junior so she was 17 when I was 21. She was absolutely gorgeous and really sweet. Anyway I moved out of the area and it broke down but we kept in touch by text / email. About 7 years later (just before I got with current one) she wanted to meet again and she drove over for a night out. I was bragging to my housemate how fit she was. She turned up and was like Billy Bunter. I felt sick seeing her. Her mum was stick thin as well, so I assumed she would always have that build. Gutted. Anyway I did shag her that night like the gent I am but luckily she lived far enough away for it to be ‘unworkable’ long term.

Not as gutting as the one that gets away. I was with a real tidy lady when I was 17. I decided I wanted to get lashed up with my mates and binned her so I didn't have the bother of a girlfriend. I still have her on Facebook and she's an absolute stunner. She reached out to me about 5 years ago and I ignored her.

That is how we drifted to be honest. I was 21 and just wanted to move back home and get on the lash with my mates. I regretted it for many years until we hooked up again and I didn’t regret it anymore!

It usually works out for the best. I’m sure it has for you too mate.

Without a doubt mate. I think everyone remembers their past in a much better light than it actually was. I'm much better off now.

Which strangely brings me back to the original point of living in the past.
