He'd be a really useful add - he's only been playing CB for 3 or 4 years and racked up almost twenty caps as a DM.

Who was that lad Fulham had years ago we were linked with who was a really deep CDM? Mcdonald was it? Options to switch up and a very capable defender according to his stats.

Bologna have joined Inter, Nottingham Forest and more in the hunt for Udinese defender Jaka Bijol, while Milan plan a meeting for Lazar Samardzic on Monday.

The Friulani are expected to sell several big players this summer, having narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the season.

Among those who impressed the most at EURO 2024 was 25-year-old Slovenia international Bijol, who now has a whole host of clubs lining up for his services.

That list keeps growing, as Bologna are the latest to show an interest with Sportitalia suggesting the asking price is now circa €17m.

Others in the running include Atalanta, Nottingham Forest and VfB Stuttgart.

A lazy rumour - there’s no concrete interest from the VfB, although they are looking for another defender.

Milenkovic looks better suited in a back 3 in my opinion. Especially for the PL and our desperate need to tighten up defensively.

Plus, Boly is in his last season for sure, I’d say, so perhaps he gradually gets rotated this season.

I feel like we need one more CB even in the outcome that Murillo stays.

Have to disagree with this. We need to tighten up defensively from set-pieces. Having at least one of Milenkovic and Boly every week should have a big impact there.

From open play we were actually one of the better sides in the league defensively, and that's with a back 4 and an ever-rotating cast of CBs, 2 of whom had virtually no top-flight experience. If Murillo stays then he and Milenkovic should be able to continue that trend surely. It's not like playing a back 3 doesn't have knock-on effects - harder to find a spot for our best player (MGW) for one.

In my head our strongest line-up right now is something like:

Williams Milenkovic Murillo Aina
Sangare Danilo**
Elanga MGW CHO
Awoniyi***

* could be Miguel
** could be Anderson
*** Wood, if Taiwo is not match-sharp

Fair take, although I’m probably a bit more cautious in my view at the minute. Milenkovic hasn’t played a PL game yet, and for all his qualities, Murillo has some improvements to make in his defensive game. So I personally couldn’t say they are currently our best CB pair in a flat back 4, representing our strongest line-up.

But no doubt it is possible they are that, or become that.

So with my squad planner we have 4 cbs already so Bijol would be number 24 in the squad so effectively the defensive utility player. So I was hoping for a player who could fill in centre half full back and defensive mid. So we could get him but we’d sacrifice that sort of utility player.
