Gutrot Cup - Third Round Draw

Whomever we do get, it'll be played between the Brentford and Palace home games in November and just before the break for the World Cup (feels wrong to say that).

The draw is Wednesday, 24th of August.

Who do we fancy, and away or home. Normally, I'd say Derby or the Big 6 but since we're sitting at their table now.
I'd love a home game against one of the Lower League sides because you know they'd give us a proper game and play to win, like we did in the cup last year.

Lincoln City at home would be a nice one.

Is the next round still split on region?
No, given the inclusion of the remaining Premierleague teams that are involved in European Competition and the lessening of the lower league teams with smaller travel budgets, the split ends after the second round.

I'd like it to be an easy-ish game.
Let's face it, with our squad, we should be aiming to get far in these competitions. A good cup run could give us the boost that keeps us in the Premier League.

A wet Tuesday night at Stoke would seem fitting but as the they went out to Morcambe in R1 who also progressed last night, then a wet Tuesday night at Morcambe will suffice.

Great opportunity to continue the initiation of our new and junior players and getting in some match practice whilst climbing through the rounds.

As long as we have the squad strength and are injury/suspension free then we should have a good cup run.

Hoping for a few more home games.

Home tie against whoever the weakest team left in please that isn't Derby County. Same request every round.

Rubbish team = small ground = zero chance of getting tickets
Not necessarily true.

I'm not sure whether Port Vale count as a rubbish team, but they offer an away allocation of about 4,500. Tranmere certainly are rubbish, and they're giving Newcastle 2,200 tickets tonight - I'm not sure whether we'd have taken that many fans that far midweek in the early stages of the League Cup.

Seeing as Plymouth and Exeter are both out I'll go for Derby and Pride Park to give them a good hiding.
