It’s being reported that „Der Kaiser“ has passed away at the age of 78.

Player, Manager, legend.

All of German football will be in mourning.

World Cup winner twice (as Player and Manager, one of only three men to accomplish cthat), European Champion, Five German Championships, Four German Cups and three European Cups - that’s quite a haul.

Oh and the UEFA Cup as well (he managed the Bayern side who knocked-out Forest!)

Always looked so fit and well and I assumed he’d go on well in to his 90’s. Before my time but some players are so great they span generations, nations, the world! He is clearly one of those greats.

Good footballer old Franz. One of those who seldom put a foot wrong during his playing days and afterwards, respected by all.

Have seen videos of him in his playing days and he was quality.
My only real experience of him was as World Cup winning manager.
He always came across as a decent person in his interviews.

Looks to be far too many trophies there unless some are for runner up prizes. 14 bundesliga trophies and 9 cups? Make it 6 and 4 and it's not quite as busy as it's made out.

Regardless, great player, good manager and sad to see another great depart us.
