Is this one of those ones we criticise the big teams for (like Foden and Palmer this time)? Withdrawn because of "an injury"? If so I'm all for it. Last season we got Sangare back from Africa with malaria one time and an injury the second time. f*** that.

Taiwo Awoniyi came off the bench for Nigeria today. In the 93rd minute. 😐
Absolutely ridiculous. Complete waste of time for all involved.

I don't know how patriotic or committed Taiwo is to playing for Nigeria but if I were Nuno I'd be asking him if he has a slight 'knock' when the next international break comes round.

Not to sound overly sarcastic but that's like saying why have a subs bench at the end of a game where you haven't put a sub on ... he went to camp they didn't select him to start but he could have come on at any time

Except normally the subs bench haven't travelled for thousands of miles in the space of a week, away from their actual employers.

If we were talking about a fully fit Taiwo my feelings wouldn't be as strong but at the moment this is a player that is clearly brittle and needs managing all the time. At this stage in his rehabilitation he needs the care of physios that work with him every day and facilities that I have no doubt are better than the ones in either Nigeria or Rwanda.

What he doesn't need at the moment is to fly thousands of miles, train on crap pitches and still get virtually no game time. I bet Nuno is fuming although with the recent history we've had with Nigeria, probably not all that surprised.

Honestly don't see your point, if he didn't want to go he wouldn't, he's not actually injured at present so we couldn't "stop" him... players travel thousands of miles all the time as subs and don't play (champions League to Turkey anyone?).

I suspect that the reason he didn't start was precisely because he's not fully fit so they eased him in. Doing so means Tiawo gets to spend time with his fellow squad players and presumably wants to play in AFCON etc which he won't get the chance to do if he doesn't go to training to learn to play the way his international manager wants him to... it's his "duty" to travel there as anyone who wants the honour of playing for his national team... t'was every thus, you might as well say you don't believe there should be any international football in case players get injured as they aren't their employers??

Not picking a fight and I get you just want him fit for Forest but it's just normal as far as I can see.

Heard on Forest Focus that Wood has another international match Wednesday KO, I think midnight uk time. Then obviously got to fly home, cope with jet lag. Wonder if that will influence whether he starts on sat.

Disappointed that MGW didn't come on at half time or at least after 60 mins. The game was crying out for him
