Financial Fair Play (FFP)

The same reason why any good player gets sold these days. A big club gets in his agent's ear, the agent smells money - and starts selling the player a dream of trophies and awards.
I get it that he will move on eventually - he is a 21 year old kid.
Give him a big new contract with a big pay rise and an £80m buy-out clause and he can go next year.

Precisely my thoughts. This has got my naive championship manager gander up, and I love it. I’ve missed it. I doubt Murillo is diva enough to be demanding moves already and his value if we do want to sell will be much bigger next year I believe. Unless the money is bat shit crazy then why sell.

Keep your best players, sell your crap well and buy amazing young players for naff all. This is how dynasties are built… on an Amiga in the mid 90s…

I guess the hope (based on the Percy tweet) is that we sneak just over the PSR line by 30 June by selling fringe players - then sell the likes of Murillo for a fair price in August.
Can’t the big fella just chuck a bit of spare change in (no strings) to get it over the line?

If we only needed £20 M to comply why didn’t the club try to sell 3 year season tickets or some similar scheme to bridge the gap and take all pressure off and avoid having to worry about or having to accept lowball offers for key assets?
Generally although Idk if it is applicable everywhere, multi year transactions are amortised over the term.

Sheffield Wednesday did similar, more about cash flow tbh.

Because in a cost of living crisis where many people are having to justify buying a season ticket for 1 year it's highly unlikely there will be many who can justify spending in the region of £3k just for themselves, never mind those that bring children or go with their partners.

I have a question that I’m sure someone will be able to answer. We are supposed to be £20 million short for this years accounts regarding FFP. We have or are selling Mangala for approx £14 million so why can’t we include Johnsons transfer in this years figure.

I believe the Johnson figure IS already included in the figures being discussed.

So if we all sent in a cheque for £1k each as a thank you for how much we enjoyed the food and toilet facilities last season, would that count?
Harry Arter to Olympiakos for £20m as a player contract advisor?

The club has done I believe. Mangala already included too. Still £20m needed (unclear whether this means profit or revenue)

If we "sneak just over the PSR line" then please explain why we would want to sell a player who was brilliant, has another 4 or 5 years to run on the contract, and when the owner's ambition is to challenge for European places?
Selling immediately after we have complied would be Lewis Carroll in spades.

Because as the club approaches a PSR deadline they get lowballed. If they sell 11 months out they’ll likely get a far better price.

Getting season ticket money early only helps with cashflow not PSR /FFP as the revenue only goes into a club's accounts on a match by match basis.

Would hate us to shift a few players to meet the deadline to then also sell a key player late in the window.

20mil is a fair chunk of profit to raise. Worrall, Dominguez, might get 8-10mil profit. Banking on a dodgy deal or two on our keepers a cousin Omar. Maybe Awoniyi, CHO. Not sure about that.

If Murilo might get a bite at 50/60mil I reckon you just have to take it.

If we manage to sneak under PSR by selling fringe players - WHY THE HELL WOULD WE SELL MURILLO ANYWAY?
Yes, that would be my question too. If a silly offer comes, by all means, sell, everyone is for sale; but, otherwise why would you sell if you have secured PSR safety?

I get all semi-on when i read an accountant's explanation of the difference between cash and revenue.
Revenue is related to the year it relates to and needs not to be cash. It appears in the Trading and Profit and Loss Account.
Cash is a balance sheet item, and appears in the balance sheet when it is received.

So basically Forest just need Gary Barlow and his mates to play gigs for the rest of June at the City Ground, and job done?

Can we do a discussion in the middle of the pitch and talk about Remo Freuler and trains and pork pies and peter gulacsi and sausage rolls and donate it to the club i think that would raise easy 20 mil plus :p
