Thought England looked good in possession and going forward, some of the interchanging was lovely to watch. Compare that to how we played Belgium both times in the 2018 world cup, where they battered us both times, we look a completely different side and a different level to Belgium.
Defence did look shite but no one in that back 4 starts at the Euros.

Pickford
Walker Stones Maguire Shaw
Rice Mainoo
Saka Bellingham Foden
Kane

That team will win the Euros convincingly, I guarantee it.

Like the look of that… apart from slab head.

What with maquire in defence?
Yes.

The same Maguire who hasn't let us down in previous tournaments.

And the one, that when left out tonight, saw his understudy (who many were saying should start instead) play like an amateur & give a goal away on a platter.

He's not great compared to years gone by but he's served us well at major tournaments and we're not blessed in that department.

I'd go with:

Pickford
Rback Stones Colwill Chilwell
Rice Bellingham
Saka Foden LWinger
Kane

Right back choice either James or Walker, maybe Trippier at a push. Left wing choice either Grealish or Palmer, even Gordon at a push.

I also think there's an argument for playing one of Walker or James in RCB, and shift Stones to LCB, and completely agree with those saying Maguire shouldn't be anywhere near the team.

Dunk makes Maguire look like Bobby Moore. Chilwell was / is shite. Not sure why Tomori never gets a sniff, is he injured like Guehi?

Mainoo was excellent, turns away from players as though they're not there. Thought Bellingham and Foden were both targeted by the Belgians and the ref hadn't any idea how to spell Belgian names so he chose not to book any of them, despite having many opportunities.
Toney's lack of movement is shocking, Lukaku showed him how to play striker tonight. England miss Kane hugely.

Bowen tried hard, worth persisting with if Saka isn't around.

Wembley is dull for these friendlies. My kids both commented on how much noisier the WFCG was.

Pickford is a twat.

Sels did well and Mangala worked so hard.

Mainoo is 18 but plays like he's a 28 year old veteran.

I hate to say it because he's so young but he just looks like one of those players we've been crying out for. The metronome who sets the tempo. He knows where there's space and where there isn't. Looks to be progressive yet rarely gives the ball away. He's a huge upgrade on Henderson and Phillips.

Without a bucket load of injuries he wouldn't be close to the squad never mind the team.
If only we'd used the same opportunities to look at Braithwaite and Colwill.

Past caring at this point

It's inevitable that this clueless twat who only got the job by default will squander the best talent this country has seen in decades in pursuit of a defensive line and Jordan Henderson

Wake me up when we have someone in charge who inspires anything but apathy

But I've seen memes on the internet suggesting he's shit so surely he must be................

In spite of Southgate, I'd like to win the Euros, just for the fun of it and to stop the constant whine about not winning anything since 1966.

Southgate is off anyway and the win would seal his arrival at a top 6 club in the Prem.

Then we can sit back and have a laugh as he bumbles his way through the league. A game every few days, injuries regularly upsetting your plans and tough opponents every game will sort him out.
