Who said it did?

Tories jumped on the same anti-woke band wagon confected for offence.
Some posters on the thread not you! I’ve also seen it online. If we are being honest the leaders of the parties got asked their views it wasn’t drummed up by any political parties. Also both parties said that you shouldn’t change the cross. I actually disagreed with that sentiment. I would have said you shouldn’t change unifying symbols for political reasons. If it’s a design reason crack on than you are at the court of public opinion as of taste of design.

Noone has given a shit the previous umpteen times the flag has been used in different ways.

The right wing media whipped up the hatred and the Tory Government were out frothing at the mouth as soon as they could. Just as they do around the trans debate which you keep referencing.

It's all part of right wing culture wars and a distraction from all of the other bullshit going on.

But you keep foaming at the mouth over a flag and someone wearing a bra.
That is completely a wrong take. No one got upset about companies political messaging because the big bad tories told them so. Also most Tory voters can’t stand the tories as it is. Companies are pushing these divisive cultural messages it’s not some Tory thing.

If you are saying the tories are right wing then by definition keir starmer is left wing who also thinks it’s all bollocks…. So that debunks the conspiracy theory you just wrote

Word reaches me that Laurance Fox is giving a speech against Nike's woke globalisation communism thing at the Cenotaph. He's wearing Nike shoes.

Exactly and the reason Starmer said what he said is he wants to be in touch. Which is why I said I dont understand why companies have to have political messaging as its divisive and will drive down sales. Just look at what happened to Bud Light and Disney's stock price has fallen dramatically. That is not me saying what Nike did now was political but the problem is they have driven a culture of suspicion by the the consumers because they themselves have entered the culture war by doing the things they do. This isnt some Tory initiated thing. Most companies used to stay out of politics completely because they knew how toxic it could make a brand. Which is of course true which is why you wouldnt see Coca Cola for example have Nigel Farrage on an advert. Most people just want companies to stop engaging in these silly cultural wars and maybe next time the St Georges Cross gets changed there will no outcry?!?!? Just as redemption said this used to happen and people wouldnt bat an eyelid. The problem is though Nikes messaging on this and their previous actions has just made everyone weary and on edge. I genuinely feel sorry for Nike if it was just a design decision.

Thats idiotic firstly to wear Nike shoes doing that is hypocritical and the last thing on earth Nike are is communists.... Nike would be one of teh first companies on earth to rally against communism. This is like the "Queers for Palestine" group just one oxymoron

I was being satirical with communism bit.

I don't know that Fox said that.

Joey Barton, on the other hand

Do you understand though why Joey is saying that though? Nike involve themselves in culture wars and the flag does look like an LGBT symbol. Nike have confirmed it isn't a political message but if you are company who has used a Man cosplaying a woman to flog sports bras you can entirely see why you would think Nike was pushing this agenda. It would be like a burglar has been caught with red paint on his hands and his past previous convictions are for stealing from B&Q and Wickes.

Of course, Nike saying they are reminding people of colours used in 1966 fail to realise that most of us watched on TV which was black and white in those days.

I had no idea England played in red until I saw a newsreel film much later.

Changing the colours of a tiny stitching of a flag isn't a political message or culture wars. It's just sending a message that supporting the England football team is open to all, and not just a load of failed fat middle aged angry grifters like Joey Barton, Laurence Fox and Nigel Farage.

I think it's great, I want to see more sections of society feel welcome at England games and football in general. If that upsets the likes of Fox and Barton, so be it, but there are more important things in life that people should be getting wound up about.

I dont like at all and I am not old. Firstly it sends a message out that the nations flag isnt welcome to all by the need of changing it. It sends out a message that the nation is homophobic when it generally isnt. Homophobia of course exists but its such a minority thing and you will never eradicate it. Than I have a huge problem with the LGBTQ+ lobby at the moment with how they are medicalizing gay kids to change their gender and that is what was happening at Tavistock on large scale. So I actually am averse to that messaging in general at the moment and the lobby as a whole. It would put me off buying that shirt if that was the aim it was after. That is my political opinion which is why as I said it shouldnt be on shirts because it has the actual opposite affect of unifying people it divides. You like it and I dont and there are lots of people like me including gay people who wouldnt like it. There are some gay people who like the St Georges Cross and that is the point of supporting England and footy and dont want to be patronised to in this manner as well. They just want to enjoy England and get a St Georges Cross like the rest of us. Of course I believe Football is for all and any homophobic abuse should stamped down on.

Back to actual football and that…no Ryan Yates in the team, so I’m not watching.
Had to laugh earlier at Sky saying that we were missing first choice players like Jordan Henderson.
