Given that the England U17s have just won the European Championship, and we are clearly building at all levels at the moment, are any of them worth looking at?

Sadly, this is a cr*p thread starter, because I know nothing about them.

None of them will be ready for 1st team football and all the good ones will be snapped up by Premier League clubs.

Patrick Roberts and Isiah jay Brown have both played first team in the premier league, but only 5 mins here and there so not sure if they would be ready plus I'd rather promote from within

Well apparently Fulham have 'slapped' a 15 million pound price tag on Roberts to stop UTD going after him so I doubt we have much chance...
It's too hard to tell with kids this young.

England u17 won a competition was it 4 years ago? Barkley and Shaw are the ones who are in the main squad now, the rest still seem firmly in the prospect stage.

Sad that barely a mention has been made in the press also.

Have you seen the new FA website? you used to be able to go through all the age groups and see how they were doing, for the men's teams, and the women's. The current one makes everything really difficult. I presume that the press would also receive press releases, but for those of us who don't, finding information is really difficult. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to know about how the U20s/21s in the Toulon Tournament (on this week, for those who are interested), the Tournoi de Limoges, the European Championship, the World Championship Elite Stage (or whatever it's called).

It sucks that our country and our FA doesn't take these things as seriously as other countries, despite inventing the f*cking game.

Rant over

Wont they all be part of an academy program at their parent clubs at this age or something? Quite hard to just hoover up all the kids from the academies of top clubs, otherwise everyone would just do it.

If there are any outstanding ones, they could be available for loan. Aside from that, at lower age groups, you get players from lower league academies.

I notice pearce had a little word with Roberts when he came on last night. Wigley will know him from Fulham obviously and Eastick from the England U19s. Softening up? Here's hoping...

That will be the drugs!

Fair point though. I can't be doing with Greg Dyke poncing on about lack of opportunities for young English players on TV then the FA not bigging the same players up.

They're out there representing their country and getting the exposure necessary to win international competitions.

That 17yr old Fulham threw on last night has a big future warming the bench of a top 4 side before being shunted out on loan to all and sundry before being off loaded to someone like Sunderland after years of not playing consistent competitive football.

Keep drowning the game in money whilst trying to bail us out using an egg cup Mr Dyke.

He looked a genuine threat during his - thankfully brief - appearance last night.
