And the England captainWould make sense as we’ll have loads in the squad.
It has been mentioned in the Daily Mail too this morningSomeone just posted this on an England fans forum that I go on. Dailysports.net (maybe not the most reliable source but you never know?) reporting that there may be an England friendly at the WFCG this summer.
England are in talks over a playing a friendly against Senegal at the City Ground this summer, Mail Sport understands.
The national team will face Andorra on June 7 but have a free date for a non-competitive fixture.
And it is understood the wheels are in motion towards Thomas Tuchel’s side playing against the African nation at the home of Nottingham Forest.
If the fixture is confirmed, a number of Premier League stars would likely turn out for the Senegalese.
Nicolas Jackson, Ismaila Sarr, Iliman Ndiaye, Pape Matar Sarr and Idrissa Gana Gueye are among those who could feature against England, while former Liverpool star Sadio Mane is also a key player for the Senegalese, who are captained by ex-Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
I thought it a bit strange as well to be fair.It has been mentioned in the Daily Mail too this morning
I am by no means complaining but this is a bit baffling to me - why the City Ground? Not only do England never go on the road anymore, I love the old dog but there are so many more suitable stadiums
They do indeed VP, Die Nationalelf played recently in Stuttgart, as they rotate their matches around several German grounds.Perhaps Tuchel is trying to spread the games around. Germany do it all the time, I think.
Wembley has a ridiculously busy concert schedule this summer, so is pretty close to their event limit and can understand not holding the match there.I am by no means complaining but this is a bit baffling to me - why the City Ground? Not only do England never go on the road anymore, I love the old dog but there are so many more suitable stadiums
England typically play matches away from Wembley once or twice per season. Last year there was a match in Newcastle, the previous year one at Old Trafford, the year before that a couple at Molineux, etc.It has been mentioned in the Daily Mail too this morning

I doubt it will be anything to do with him, he won't be making these kind of decisions.Perhaps Tuchel is trying to spread the games around. Germany do it all the time, I think.
If this does go ahead the vast majority of people there won't be Forest fans, so I somehow doubt they'll want to sing our anthem...It would give all other fans the opportunity to experience the divine pleasure of singing along with "Mist rolling in..."
Maybe they could actually get Macca to lead it this time being an England game?
I genuinely forgot I went to the one at St James’. Mind you, it was the most boring game in history and the only fun bit was watching the Bosnian fans having a great time.England typically play matches away from Wembley once or twice per season. Last year there was a match in Newcastle, the previous year one at Old Trafford, the year before that a couple at Molineux, etc.
They also once in a while like to play somewhere that hasn't hosted a match for a long time, if they are going to play in Nottingham I guess someone just thought it was our turn?
Aston Villa are having one this summerI’m hoping the Club have another concert weekend .
Last summer I was able to please the Mrs with tickets to see Take That.
A long weekend with a full bill of bands and individual artists would be something, wouldn’t it?
I have written a festival song for the event:
“We’re going down the City Ground
To see a rock and roll band
Gonna camp out by the Trent
We’re gonna set our souls free”
Crikey... not only does the villa Marketing director read my posts... he nicks my ideas and makes them happen pretty damn quickly.Aston Villa are having one this summer

I'm sure that I read, that England played Wales in a friendly in either 1941 or 1943??I posted in another thread that I saw on SSN that this will be the first England game at the CG since 1909.
I beginning to wonder if I read that right and if it's correct.
I never really thought about this due to Euro '96.I posted in another thread that I saw on SSN that this will be the first England game at the CG since 1909.

We had 3 games out of Group D and the highest attendance was 22600 for Turkey v Portugal.I saw something on Sky Sports earlier that City Ground has not hosted an international game in 84 years, but they must mean England.
Because at Euro 1996, City Ground hosted international games....
