Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis

A mate who supports Blackburn asked me what he can expect from Dennis.
Best I could come up with is:-
"Definitely a talented individual, but possibly the worst team-mate I've ever seen.!
He asked, if I thought he'd be good for them.
"He will likely have his moments, but you and his team mates will find him a reliable source of frustration"

he might do well in the championship, blackburn is in 5th position and their goal is to hang on to their playoff position till the end of the season.

I think it is something to do with amortisation of his transfer fee.
if we sell him now for next to nothing - we have to write off the rest of his amortisation in this financial period.

Yeah this has to be the reason.

It's an anomaly (amongst many) of PSR, that clubs would prefer to let a player be bomb-squaded (as per the last 6 months), and leave for free than sell for at least a small fee.

How is that good for the player or the club?

With the loan, at least we'll get some of his wages off our books.

Never let a player's wellfare, or the real-world financial situation of a club get in the way of arbitrary rules which have proven to be unfit for purpose.

But we decided against? Wheres the punchline?
Probably just an acceptance that nobody is going to take on those wages - there's no point negotiating an option if there's virtually no chance it gets invoked.

The recent reports have him earning 75k a week, with Blackburn only covering 20k of that - not even in the same universe and presumably that was the best offer we had.

If he does somehow impress enough that clubs are prepared to pay a fee and take on ~75k a week wages - then we can worry about the fee then.

The other possibility is that we realised we were dealing with Blackburn, and adding something as complicated as a buy option to the contract could mean they f*** up the paperwork again.

Don't think it'll be a PSR thing, as the amortisation left on the fee will be lower than the outstanding wages.

Dennis has almost doubled his wages in a week - I read 40k a week or so ago, it was 60k yesterday and it's 75k today.

The 75k (with Blackburn picking up 20k) figure came from Nixon so could well be bollocks. But he does tend to be unusually reliable on Blackburn stories, there's clearly someone high up inside the club briefing him.

I think it's Blackburn showing off tbh.

Sauce salad?
Possibly.

But regardless of what the actual number is, point still stands - unless something changes dramatically, nobody is going to match what he's on here or even come that close.
Very true - it'll end up with us buying out the part of his wage another club won't stretch to I expect.

Hopefully he does really well on his loan as it would be good for both club and player to move on...

As an aside I was amazed folk were suggesting he might make the squad yesterday after JWP went - he didn't make the squad with a spare place at the start of the season, though that may well have been Hennessey's all along.
