From the Guardian this morning:

"The fabled dilly-dallying of chairman Daniel Levy in the transfer market means Tottenham could also miss out on Djed Spence, with Middlesbrough reported to be growing irritated by the lack of a serious offer and ready to sell their speedy right-back to Nottingham Forest instead."

Yeah I've just read that they are getting frustrated with a lack of a solid offer for Djed. Think they're just using our name to force Tottenhams hand. Still suspect he ends up there but if we can nip in and buy quickly we should. Would be surprised if we dont already know what Djed wants in his personal contract negotiations.

Yeah I'd guess there's a bit of that. Boro do need to start spending as well though, they'll want a sale soon.

Is Daniel Levy dilly-dallying or did they never want him in the first place.

I have thought for ages Spurs don't want him, to me it looks like his agent was pushing for a Spurs move but the interest isn't mutual.

Boro will have to be careful because if we get Williams they are running out of options for him. I still see Spence coming here.

I think someone from within the club wants him, whether that is Levy, Conte, Paratici or their recruitment team, but I don’t get the impression that they are all on board with him as a signing.

Levy will no doubt feel like he’s being mugged off being asked to pay 20m or whatever for a Championship right-back who wants away.

I just hope we have a value for him as a club and we put that to Boro. Him being here last year has to count for something in our thinking- there will be loads of incomings this summer so bringing back the likes of Spence and Davis makes sense to me.

We should just put our final bid on the table and see what happens. Boro can either accept it, or it'll provoke Spurs into making a serious bid. Either way, it'll help move the transfer saga along and everyone can move on.

It's worth remembering that Cash went for £16mil to Villa just after they went up and that was a few years ago.

Is Djed worth that much? I'm not sure the numbers should be as high as the selling club want rid on this one too. Maybe put our foot down at £12mil.

I know just agent was telling people he was going Spurs, hence my posts but if Spurs aren't that keen, then fingers crossed we can get him singed.

why is this taking forever?
I think it's to do with the structure of the transfer fee. Add-ons and all the rest of it.

Middlesbrough probably realise his potential to go further, win international caps, perhaps win a cup with Spurs, etc. However none of that is guaranteed.

They want £15m by the sounds of things, and future fees. Spurs are probably trying to stand firm as he's only had one brilliant season in the Championship.

I'm still not convinced he'll go to Spurs. Forest have moved on somewhat, but here on his valuation reduces. All concerned know this and with only one bidder..Spurs are in the driving position if that bid is real

Look at how quickly Spurs have moved this summer to get their other deals over the line.

I wonder if this deal for us is not as dead as many make out.

Spurs are in the driving seat on this transfer. They know Djed wants to go there and have agreed terms with the player so they can play hardball with Boro who they know are dependant on the transfer money to fund team building. Whatever happened to clubs agreeing a transfer fee before allowing their players to talk to other clubs?!

My dream is to have Spence, Williams, Biancone and Toffolo.

Then a top class midfielder. Bringing Garner back would be incredible.

Creaming my pants at the thought.
