Both were bought in to try and immediately improve the squad, but ended up as some of our worst transfer business.

We need to strike a balance. Ones for the future and someone who contributes but isn't past it like Shelvey and Wood.

Actually, somebody saw that pic of the kid in the Tweet and immediately demanded to speak to somebody at Santos.

They want to know how the hell they managed to get 5 sponsors on the shirt and if we could sign the person responsible.

If we don't end up with Pork Farms (£8millon), Speedo (£4m), Games Workshop (£3m), Experian (£3m) and E.On (900k) with a small space for the RSPCA (a rescue dog to keep Harry Arter company in the boiler room/various errands in the club van) by the start of the new season then I will be astonished.

Absolutely astonished.

The funny spelling is so that Brazilians pronounce it the way we pronounce “David”

If they spelled it the way we do, they’d pronounce it “Dah-veed”

Washington is pronounced the same way we say it, except the emphasis is on the “ton” and it rhymes with “gone”
