To Chesterfield?
Strange, especially seeing as he was 'going to Norwich' only a couple of weeks ago...

I don't think so.
Clifford said:I think Calderwood deserves more credit from forest fans. Say what ever you like about team selection and tactics but the simple fact is the decline stopped under him and no one can argue we are in a better position now than when megson left.
We have a good young squad with some talented players and team spirit. That is in part down to Calderwood. Good luck to him.
Rich. said:To be honest, Newcastle would do well to keep hold of him. His shrewdness in the transfer market, and ability to pick up a diamond and spot youth talent could prove invaluable to a team looking to stave off bankruptcy.
Caly In Our Alley said:Can they get rid of the whole squad though? Who is going to buy a player like Duff?
And does Alan Shearer still have his 'must be highest earner at the club' clause??
Rich. said:Duff has stated his desire to stay there. Loyalty, he called it.
Loyal to two years remaing on his contract, no chance of a Bosman so no chance of anyone else matching his £70k per week.
DanR said:The only way they can shift Duff, and the others, is to take a hit on the market value and to keep paying a proportion of his wages, much like Leeds did.
So, Duff, currently on 70k, is sold to Liverpool (let's say) and has a market value of £3 million, but Liverpool are only willing to pay Duff 50k a week on a two year contract. Newcastle would then have to pick up the remaining 20k per week for the remainder of Duff's contract, in effect turning a £3 million sale into only a £1 million sale. And this is assuming that someone wants to pay £3 million for Duff, and wants to pay him 50k per week!

Rich. said:There is always the option, though, of 'The Tottenham Fan', as my uncle refers to Ashley, putting money into the club. It's strange, they are one of the richest clubs around, but could still be in administration before the season starts.
