Yep I hope he signs up and focuses on having a positive impact with Forest this season. He will have a big part to play and he comes in in good shape.
I was in Athens to watch our game against Olympiakos couple of summers ago and was wandering around the tourist area and walked past DJ and his wife but it didn’t register who it was for about 2 mins by which time I’d passed him. He’s clearly quite rightly a huge influence and supporter of his son. I’m sure He’ll be as happy as anyone if he’s successful with us.

Ya know we wont tho Ash. Notwithstanding the player himself may come with issues, especially with his Dad in his ear.

Leave the fukin lad alone and let him play football.

Where's the evidence that we aren't allowing him to concentrate on his football Ray?

Trying to agree a new contract with his people that is mutually beneficial to both parties can't not come without some distractions however.

If he signs a new deal I think he’s gonna have a massive season for us, had a great season for Lincoln and is doing the business during pre season.

We've got a pretty good track record of bringing players through so I don't think either Brennan or his dad will be pushing for a move to the Premierleague just yet.

Right now with the financials the way they are, no one is going to bid too big on a player that has 2 games in the Championship to their name. £3.5m in the normal market is a pittance for someone in Brennan's situation.
Forest selling for anything around that figure right now would be short-termism. Hold the line and then in a season or two, cash in.

Right now, he's in the best possible situation. An environment that is familiar and set-up for him to be a success but also having a free-hit season where delivering anything will be a bonus.
If in May, he's scored a few goals and got some assists. You'd say job well done for him this year.

Good, its the most sensible decision for the player.
My beef with BJ and his entourage has always been that all the flouncing around and agitating is distracting for a young player. Theres a very simple path to success and the great wealth that comes with it in football and that's to knuckle down, work your balls off and if you have the talent and the right attitude then barring injury cream rises to the top. The world isn't littered with amazing young talents who applied those principles and weren't spotted, but it is full of kids with talent who got poor advice and came unstuck-hell we've had plenty at Forest.
The irony is that's exactly what David Beckham did to get where he ended up, but once people get there sometimes they forget the journey...
Lets hope young Brennan is given the chance to shine and progress without distraction with a new contract and if he rips it up this season wish him well when he's sold to a club at a higher level....

All well and good but the positive development of a player is influenced by the environment they are in. As the players father and advisor i wouldn't be happy with him staying at the club we've been over the last couple of years. I'm hopeful that Dane Murphy might have drawn a line under that episode and we go we go from one of the biggest shit shows in the country to a sensible well run club..

Sometimes as fans we get a bit self absorbed, but seriously, there are way way bigger shit shows than us about the last few years.

Which is all well and good but he’s a professional sportsman who signed a binding contract with a professional club. That didn’t happen under duress and the club invested time and money into that young player.
The club has been far from a mess at youth level for eons.

As I’ve already said I see it the opposite to you in that I think the biggest risk to young Brennan is the agitation and distraction coming from his own people.

My guess is that DJ doesn’t have enough to do with his time

But that's not true Bala, facts are that DJ has been noisily pushing for a move for Brennan for a while by slagging off his club to every man and his dog.

I don't think a move will happen this year because (as you rightly say) the financials aren't right but that's circumstance rather than a change in heart with DJ. Sadly I think this will resolve by him signing a new contract and getting on with it for a season because that what everyone knows is the best thing for him, they will make a few quid to shut them up but the contract is inevitably going to have a release clause for next season and I just hope we don't have our pants pulled down on that because we deserve a good fee for him, not just because of all the earache his dad has caused but because he's a good player of the type that are not 2 a-penny

I must have missed all this rabble-rousing from Johnno.

There’s been plenty, not high grade admittedly but pretty persistent, negative and frankly unnecessary.
I think what’s upset people is not so much the prodding for a move it’s the openly calling the club a shitshow and implying we don’t know how to handle or develop his son. Whilst we might have some sympathy with the former the latter just isn’t true-I’d put our record of bringing young players on up against just about anyone in this division at least.
I just don’t think it’s the way to behave. I know he’s not “employed” by the club, but his don us and he is an important alumnus, it’s childish, without aim or focus and at the end of the day achieves bugger all.

The conclusion I have reached is that DJ is very inexperienced as an agent, I’d getting his professional role mixed up with his personal relationship and that he’s a bit, well thick.
I’d like not to hear anything mire from him and tge let the boys feet do the talking now.

Again, unless I've missed something, nothing DJ has done or said has 'upset' me. I remember a few digs on Twitter but I think some of what he said had some merit.

Also, you suggested (facts, no less) that he'd been noisily pushing Brennan for a move & slagging off the club to everyone. As well as trying to shaft Forest via some release clause.

I would say all of the above (if true) would certainly be 'high grade' rabble-rousing!

I haven't seen anything to suggest David has been pushing for a move for his son to be honest.

He said on twitter,
"They have a better manager who gets the best out of his players. They have a great team spirit and work ethic. They play with great intensity and good brand of football .They pace and power all over the field and the team is playing with plenty of confidence ( on a 0 budget )"

I can't necessarily argue with any of that. Lincoln punched well above.

That being said, no team is going to pay for Brennan what we want for Brennan this season, so he's staying.

When viewed in context Id say that’s pretty inflammatory. The context being the comments about Forest not being a good environment and not rating Hoots (paraphrased)

Anyway no point getting into an argument about mist of this crap-what we need is BJ to play well for us and everything else looks after itself….

He’s said plenty. I think DJ is a bit of a tool to be honest.
