They sort of are. They don't have an academy so we'll never go down that route. But you're spot on in that they seem to have a knack of identifying the right players replace those they're selling on at huge profits.

The thing we don't like about them is their supporters' feeling of superiority just because they keep the ball a lot. Oh, and they're not the nicest bunch either, speaking from experiences of being in the home end.

They’re bringing their academy back as you have to have one to play in Europe.

Looks likes he's in Greece on holiday at the moment. I wonder if he'll be meeting Marinakis with Cooper to discuss a new contract?

Wouldn't surprise me.

Olympiacos announced another extension today, third one in the last few days. Seems to be doing them all at once.

If that Twitter page is accurate, would be absolutely massive. I love love this kid. Plays with his heart on his sleeve and that is what all great footballers are about.

I’m loving Brennan’s new summer look which seems to be approved by his team mates but………Brennan, what were you thinking about the shoes and socks?

I honestly don't know what point you are trying to make here.
I suspect you are implying route b) is the way to go, and it would be if it weren't for a release clause that means you do all of the investment bit you talk about and then find your "100M payday" doesn't exist because the player can go for 25M....

I've been thinking over why I'm so cross about Brennan and the release issue, particularly when Haarland has just gone for 50M on an activated release to Man City (which is probably the equivalent of us getting 10 for Brennan)...The difference there is Dortmund didn't develop the player-he came to them as the next great thing having already shown he could score buckets. All they had to do was put him in the team and he carried along the exact same trajectory he was already following. If anyone should be upset its his Norwegian side that developed him or Salzburg who probably did take a bit of a risk on him. We've had Brennan since he was 8 and he is where he is because of the club. In the same way I wouldn't expect Man U to give away Garner at below market value to us given the huge effort they will have made with him and his development I don't think Brennan should expect a contract that shafts NFFC.
I am absolutely implying option b) is the way to go here. The 100m payday is nothing to do with Brennan's value, but the approximate amount Forest could stand to gain by staying up, with him playing a leading role.

The point is about seeing the bigger picture: namely the potential 100m is a larger financial amount than what we may stand to lose on a potential release clause sale value for Brennan next summer.

You make a valid point that Brennan shouldn't expect a contract that shafts Forest, but the reverse is also true. Even with vastly increased income, the club cannot afford to pay him the salary level of a 30m player for example.

This also feeds into your point about Garner and Man Utd: Garner is currently being paid his market value and plays for an established PL club with massive financial reserves. Neither factor is currently true of Brennan. We hope to get to that level in the fullness of time, but have to make sacrifices to do so.

I also agree Brennan is where he is largely because of the club, but it's far better to take that factor completely out of the equation and view it purely as a business decision. If Forest do refuse the release clause, we have to choose between options a) or c) and will be signalling to younger players that while they may develop at the WFCG, we may put barriers in the way of their career progression.
