The blokes lost his wife & brings up 3 kids on his own!

Don't care for him much, but it looks like a f***ing irresponsible move to me.

Seen the money made from McGregor's hype, thought he'd have a slice of that pie.

Don't blame him as a bloke, but I f***ing hate modern sports. Gimmicks, media spin, and gumph drowning out real talent. In fact that extends to pretty much everything now. f***ing Big-Brother, X-factor culture.

Get Schteve to promote & manage him so all the real drongs can buy into the white-smiles & gumph, whilst skanking some working class kid who's trained for years to have a shot like this instead.

I am minded of the famous quote from Mike Tyson; "everybody has a plan, right up until they get punched in the face."

..if only Savage had made the same decision. They'd be queues round the block to see him getting repeatedly lamped.

Boxball. It'll be an Olympic sport in 2028 you mark my words.

Don't know why everyone's so cynical. Curtis Woodhouse won a British title and fought for a Commonwealth title. Leon McKenzie fought for an English title and won a British title eliminator. I hope Ferdinand can follow in their footsteps - good luck to him.

Chris Martin would be one player I'd like to see in the ring. My guess is it wouldn't be a long bout.

Martin would make an ideal comedy villain in the WWE, he spends most of his time flat on his back anyway, he'd be a natural.

Joshua v Lansbury holds a certain amount of appeal.

So does the Legion of Doom against Chris Martin, to be honest.

Only they weren't almost 39.

McKenzie suffered from depression and I think turned to boxing as a way out, and I can't help but think this move from Ferdinand has a certain element of 'Mid-life crisis' about it.

He tragically lost his wife to cancer and bottled up his emotions. I said to my mate he's probably just looking to get it all out of his system.

I thought boxing was what happens between the two halves of a football match over pies.

Curtis did it when he was in his footballing prime, plus he had boxed for years. I'm not sure whether Ferdinand has boxed in his youth.

McKenzie also had boxing in his family - Duke McKenzie is his uncle, amongst other family members who have made a living from the sport.

Maybe Rio could take on John Terry?

Whatever inspired a man who has to sit and listen to Robbie Savage every week to take up boxing?

WE can but hope he encourages Savage to take up the noble sport also.

Failing that, deep sea diving, lion taming, and tightrope walking would also be sports I would pay to watch Robbie Savage fail horrendously at.

at that age its ridiculous to start a boxing career, think its just publicity for that the show he is doing. may have a celebrity boxing match but at light heavyweight dont think he will ever fight a badou jack
