Any Canadian Fans?

As luck would dictate, I'll be in Canada in November, missing the Forest v Derby game.

Anyone know of any pubs that are likely to be showing it in Toronto?

Most places will if you ask them, I watched the play-off semi final a few years ago in a bar there when I lived in Canada, I think we lost against Blackpool.

Never been to canada but have been quite a few other places in the world, so i can 100% gurantee you will find an irish bar there that will have guiness on draft, a scottish irish and english breakfast available from 10am sign, a sign l somewhere describing some kind of craic and it will defo have sky sports. That would be my starting point.

Its inevitable, im almost sure that when explorers went to discover the new world somewhere on the ship was some bar stools and a "guiness on draft" neon sign.

I remember backpacking across Thailand and had to get a boat from a tiny pier on the coast of Krabi, as it was the cheapest fare we could find to Phuket. The town was an absolute ghost town and the pier was just about standing with a hut to buy your boat ticket from a guy sat on a plastic school chair.

With two hours till the one a day boat, we wandered into the village to find some snacks. Nothing about other than a few mangy looking dogs roaming the streets.

Then, there in front of us, in a town of no more than 200 people in the middle of no where; a pub called The Irish Bar, decked out in pictures of Celtic and Rangers players plus a few of Jack Charlton, cut out from magazines. An Irish flag draped across the ceiling.

There is no town in the world without one.

My mate was the same in the phillipines when he went to meet his girlfriends family... wanted to take them all out to eat. The island had limited electricity, not all houses had running water, most houses were built from stuff washed up on the beach but he could still get a pint of the black stuff on draft. Even mcdonalds aint a patch on the quest to sell the craic.

As a half-Irishman I can concur with this assessment.

I am never ceasing to be amazed at the weird and wonderful places I have encountered "Irish" pubs worldwide.

Strangest one I've ever found, I was wandering though Amman in Jordan (as you do) turned a corner and lo and behold - The Dubliners Irish Pub.

I don't need to describe it as I'm sure you could picture it yourself.

I'm sure that in the event of a nuclear apocalypse, the only things that would survive - in addition to cockroaches and Peugeot 504 Estate Cars - would be Irish pubs.

I'd go so far to say that worldwide there must actually be more Irish pubs than there are Irish people. It seems that way to me anyway.

If you're travelling, you're better off having an Irish passport than a British one.

I'm going to nick my dad's one. If I get arrested for no reason and bribed by local African police, I can show them the Irish passport and they'll suddenly start putting their arms round me and laughing.

Lived there 10 years Rich, before moving South. There's a place called Football Factory at Richmond St,W and Bathurst. Food ain't the greatest but they'll have the game on.

Enjoy it Mate, the City has got really cool the last 2 years and has become very trendy and rather proud of itself.

At a recent 1950's Rockabilly event in Long Eaton, I got chatting to a Spanish rockabilly and his wife that have recently moved to this country from Madrid. They now live Syston.

After chatting for a while we got on to the subject of football, Turns out the fella supports Forest. I asked him why Forest? He said that his dad took him to the 1980 European cup final in Madrid when he was 10yrs old. He's been a Forest fan ever since.

His first home game will be against Boro.

Edit : Sorry this has nothing to do with canada

I wish there was a place like that in my city. But most likely I could find one in San Jose or Sacramento as those cities really like football.

Don't forget that Toronto is 5 hours behind up, so the game will be on after lunch. Plenty of sports bars in Toronto, but Championship football will never be the first priority. Ice Hockey and baseball are always shown, and my other half's family who live in Ontario, never fail to see premiership football, although the early kick offs are on at breakfast time.

Not Canadian either, but they used to have (and might still have) a Guinness brewery in Lagos. Had a few interesting boat races there!

They still do, it's one of the places where they brew Foreign Extra Stout.

Apparently, Nigerians can't get enough of the black stuff.
