The German World-cup Winner, and playing legend at Bayern, Internazionale and latterly Kaiserslautern (when they sensationally won the title in 1998) has died at the age of 63, Kicker confirms.

A sad day, he was a former assistant coach at the VfB (in 2005-06, under Giovanni Trappatoni) as well.

Jesus, only 63... remember him as a very tenacious player, hard working and skillful. Sad day for German football.

As a kid growing up, Italia 90 was the most special World Cup for me.

Maradona doing his keepy uppies in the opening ceremony. You could feel how in awe everyone was of him in the stadium and behind the TV.

Then Cameroon beat Argentina in one of the biggest shocks of all time.

The amount of legends in that World Cup. Germany had many. Mattheus. Klinsmann. Voller (I didn't like the spitting from Rijkaard btw).

Then Brehme. I'll never forget that free-kick against England in the semis and then the winning penalty in the final. So that makes him a legend too. People who produce at key moments. RIP.
