Abou Diaby - the skillful Guy Moussi?

Firstly, I know that he might want more than £10k a week if he's getting interest from the USA etc.

Secondly, I know he's been injured for ages and Forest have been having too many cases of that recently.

But, just to put it out there - could it potentially be a masterstroke to sign a player like that while he hasn't got a club? If he was fit and back to his best would he make such a difference in Forest's midfield that promotion would finally be achieved? Would he end up being an Archie Gemmill type signing or even David Phillips, in terms of adding something to the midfield?

I would have said Cambiasso but couldn't really seeing him leaving Leicester and choosing Forest at the minute! Best case scenario could be he went to Villa, leaving Gardner free to come back to Forest?

My supposed spelling correction software seems to have changed see to seeing and now I can't edit the post!

It did just auto-correct hte to the though so I guess it does some good. But anyway I can't see that Cambiasso would come to Forest even though I think he really would add something (I'm not one that's big on DM's really, but the way he was playing for Leicester it's clear what he brings and he's good on the ball as you'd expect for a player of his pedigree).

I'm sure he'd take a £70,000 weekly pay cut to come here.

I heard we were in for Cech too.

I don't think I deserved that, but that's LTLF often for you (as Raddy Majewski knows probably).

I fully agreed with that post you made on the Politics thread too Andy and still do.

I guess it was at least idiotic to invite such comments though. I'll accept that. Enjoy being horrible to others all you like if it makes you happy I guess. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit though isn't it?

Is the plan to win a gold medal at the Paralympic Games?
Ok, that one is sort of funny I guess (not people being disabled...but the suggestion he's only good as a disabled competitor now!).

Sorry for losing my cool. Sometimes it just gets to you to see a negative post lol!

I did put some notes of caution in my opening post though, and said Cambiasso would surely be unrealistic to be fair.

Ignore me sorry (I mean me getting annoyed at the comments but maybe also the opening post lol!).

I think I was just a bit susceptible to read "sarcastic comment", "mental", "sarcastic comment" and within a couple of seconds go from "aaahhh you bar stewards" to posting an objection.

It wasn't even that bad to be fair, and like I say normal for LTLF. No problem (although I admit, it didn't seem like I felt this way at first).

Secretly I'm hoping he signs and wins player of the year though....Erm, not secretly now.

That escalated quickly!

Perhaps I should have quoted who I was replying to and replied with more than one word, anyway, my post was meant to mean it's mental he's on 70/80k a week, as he's a biscuit. Although you might have "reality issues" if you believe he's a viable transfer target but at least someone's still optimistic, I think most of us are seeing nothing but journeymen and hoofing coming :)

Looking past the fact we have absoloutely nothing to offer him, because he will recieve more money and higher football in many other places. Even if we could get him, is this really the sort of transfer we should be looking at? One of the things we need now more than ever is stability in the squad, we have seen what it is like to get on a good run of games, building up form around a side then loosing Reid, Cohen, Hobbs, Fryatt and then later on Britt. We also have Lansbury, Lichaj, Wilson, Dex, and Vaughan who are guarenteed to miss at least a few games a season. While Diaby is a great player and well out of our league he is also not what we need, another player to come in and build our squad round, then it gets ripped up within a few weeks when he inevitably gets injured, with our 10k per week I would rather take the Championship Defensive mid that plays 40 games a season, than the champions league defensive mid who plays 5.

More biscuit players please. We should definitely stockpile them. Can never have enough.
Maybe get Darren Anderton and Jimmy Bullard out of retirement whilst we're at it.

Oops, sorry mate.

I had already decided you'd just meant to use the word as a buzzword to say you don't think it's a goer. But hadn't even thought you weren't replying to my original post.

Like I say, I fully agree with your housing ideas and genuinely can say "no problem" for sure this time.

Sorry mate - can we put it down to a misunderstanding?

In honesty (I think you can tell from my opening post) I did have these sorts of things in mind.

I suppose, I was just thinking that Forest could really do with picking up some sort of super bargain. A player that has been injured a lot but has shown that he has Premier League quality (at least he did have) is one possible avenue to that I thought (albeit a risk - a wasted 10k per week - but then Fawaz is under restriction because of FFP moreso than because he doesn't want to spend cash).

The sarcastic posts (yours isn't one, and neither was Andy's!) don't look so bad now the thread's at least been up a while I suppose lol.

Is it your time of the month? Lol, I don't think bringing in aged players is the route we should be going down any more. They tend to be expensive and unreliable (in terms of fitness and wages)

We need to be nurturing the future talent from the youth teams or lower leagues. Get some hunger back in this team.

Just to clarify - I don't dislike this part of the post and expected some people to say that when I decided to create the thread. I'm not even sure I disagree, although by the same token if (and it's a long shot) he did come and was in top form then I'm sure most people would be enthusiastically behind him.

He's not that old. But the massive questions (and I don't know the answers) are around what his injuries might have done to him permanently and whether he'd even contemplate coming.

I think young talent and older class can co-exist, but I do get the point in most of the post.

I just said that to take the heat off Kjetil

Also Fox is a good player and I really miss Platt as a manager.

I think that's good advice!

And to clarify again, I don't think LTLF has more sarcasm than the average football forum or plenty of other forums.

Maybe the apathy about the team at times can generate more, but a glance at other forums will say that a fan of a team will often disagree with other fans of the same team. It's a good job the forum doesn't take the role of the TAP to be fair or else we'd all be veto'ing each others transfer targets and ideas all the time.

Thanks - much appreciated. Although I'm not sure what I'm going to start as my next topic now you stole my next 3 options that were in mind for threads with only polite banter and respect.

If I'm being consistent with my earlier rant(ish) then I should really defend Fox or say cut him some slack though I suppose!

You saved me from the last resort of pretending my reaction indicated I was Billy Davies and still had some hard feelings. But Alf wouldn't have been allowed to come to my defence anyway!

Moussi had his heart in the right place but i thought he put some real shocking performances for us.

Im glad he f**ked off in the end.

If Abou Diaby stayed fit (which is something hes never managed) he would be a great signing..but its a massive risk and he wouldnt take the wage drop.
