One less gobshite...
No need to change the laws (well there is because it is a mess)
It might be a mess but most importantly they exist. Sporting Events Act (1985) controls drinking at Football Stadiums.

Are you advocating the club breaks the law to provide drinks?

Are we taking this Rebel Club metaphor too seriously? 🤣

Considering the amount of small breweries that have gone bust, called it a day or been forced to sell out to the Global mega-breweries in the last 24 months...I'd have severe doubts that a football club could make it work as a sideline.
My take would be that there's a place within a hundred metres or so they could Cuckoo out to, which assuming this was mutually beneficial (fan park anyone?) it would be a good way to make money for both.

Agree it's a tough profession at the minute due to rising costs, but when already established there's definitely still money to be made.

Yup, though I've no idea on scale, and if the management is who I think it is, I'm not sure I'd be dealing with them (based on one very brief snapshot).

There must be a local brewery out there who'd fancy a regular production flow (in season) at the kind of scale we'd need though - still, at 6.50 a pint of shit cider perhaps they're already killing it!

Brewery has shut last I heard.

Anyone who wants to leave last nights atmosphere behind for the sake of a shiny bowl with comfy seats wants fukcing with a ragman's trumpet.
I could talk this morning - so based on that it was good but not to a couple of games last season! Was great to hear all the stands getting involved again, missed that. (It’s also good to not be a grumpy bastard today!)

Only in the 'hospitality' areas but that's what's wrong. The WFCG is not easy to get away from so some facilities for supporters to relax for a while after the final whistle would be really good and would demonstrate that the club do actually care.
Football has come a long way from the bad old days that I hear so much about, from my dad and uncles, standing on overcrowded terraces, wet with rain and someone else's ale, and with zero facilities other than perhaps a tea stall with plastic cups and a burger van selling total crap. That progress came about when someone, somewhere, recognised that you can't treat football fans like the railways used to treat passengers. First, second and third class. TE Upper concourse is third class.
I think Tottenham are the club for you.

Yes, but we're not in some countries. We're in England and Wales where there is a specific set of laws for drinking at Football matches which include in the stadium and after the match.

Changing the laws is a different set of issues to bemoaning the club doesn't do something that is currently not done elsewhere in English football.
Agree, its totally ridiculous to make such comparisons, it'll be big Mara's fault there's no trams too. Forest are no different to 80% of Prem clubs and 99% of league clubs in Britain for such things. I'd rather not get a tram to a football ground myself.

Laughable in the extreme.

Likewise, there is a specific set of laws that prohibits the broadcasting of live football between 1500-1700 on a Saturday, and just like those laws, the current ones centred around the - shock, horror! - consumption of alcohol at football grounds are outdated, and not fit for purpose.
But, that's not Forest fault is it?

Forest‘s fault? No, of course not.

Something that they, and other PL clubs - who contribute millions of pounds to the economy - could rally against? Absolutely.

Something I will say, the atmosphere from last season was back, sort of last night. All the chants were delivered with actually oomph and gusto, we absolutely need that. When the CG is loud like that, you can believe anything is possible, even Forest holding onto a lead with set pieces flying in. 😄

Drinking in the stands is the worst idea ever. Kids now think that beer is for wanging about to demonstrate that they are celebrating harder than anyone else.

I'm certainly not proposing drinking in the stands, and if that is how some have interpreted my previous comments then be assured that, as things are now in the UK, drinking in the stands at football matches is an absolute no go. It does happen in other countries, USA is a case in point, but it's not without issues there either.
However, I was making the point that subject to compliance with the Licensing Act 2003 alcohol and non-alcoholic refreshments served on the concourses, and after the match, would be welcome. The hospitality areas serve after the game after all. It would assist with the problem of everyone leaving at once. Obviously the concourses would need to be improved, and that is something that Chairman Tom has promised.
I've also remembered that Sunderland have a large 'sports bar' with the SoL, called Quinns, and you can wander in after a game and it is nice.

In other news, I'm back in Liverpool and at the hotel bar last night I met a former Liverpool player. He knows Neco and Harry Wilson from their time at Anfield and he travelled down for the Fulham game. He was full of praise for Forest and he very much enjoyed the atmosphere. He made the point that, without mentioning names, some Forest players seem to lack composure and turn the ball over too easily, and too often. I agree with that but I see that as something that will improve with confidence and experience. Nice fellow, nice chat, nice to get the compliments.

I'm quite happy for the youths to do that in their 'Fanzones' with their over-priced, over-hyped, over-advertised, under-flavoured chemical lagers.
Doing it with a proper beer in a place that I might frequent should be a criminal offence though.

No need to allow alcohol in the stands, we just need to improve the concourses and efficiency of service so it's actually possible to get a decent pint at half time

I also wouldn't be against opening bars after full time but again the concourses would need massive improvement before it would be viable

Exactly my points. I do feel that some posters would be happy to revert to overcrowded terraces just "for the atmosphere'. They are conservatives with a small c and in any business, and football is a business, you have to get your head up and look forward. Forest loose lots of money because they do not have adequate, let alone first class, facilities in house.

Re local brewers. It's a trend to 'go local' and I support that. there are lots of breweries in the local area who I am sure would love tp get their products on sale at the WFCG. In an ideal world there would be a choice of bars and places to eat for supporters, both under the stands and in the immediate surroundings. right now it's filtered pasteurised chemical piss from a multi-national beer factory and a dodgy burger. OK, the Fan Zone has elevated the food offering somewhat but Forest are behind the curve, and they know it.
