Steve Cooper will always be the MAN!

It’s simple. Which side of the fence are you on?

So coops has us in a relegation battle and nuno has to get top 6 for progress, that makes perfect sense, you've won me over!

I guess it then comes down to what period of Coopers tenure do you take into consideration when setting the standards for the new manager.

It feels like for some, that is just the last 13 games - fair enough if that is the case, but this feels like a very risky strategy to me.

I have no doubt that Cooper is a Premier League standard manager, and that he will be very successful in the Prem, people forget how young he is and that he has so much progress he can still achieve, just a real shame it sounds like it won’t be with Forest
I think Olise, Eze, Hendo et al will likely get someone who will do them and their club some good pretty shortly!

I think we have to accept that none of our managers will ever have a great working relationship with the owner. That's just the way it (and he) is. And while he's the owner he makes the calls, we've shown we can have an impact but ultimately if things aren't great he'll do what he does.

If this is the end: Good luck Coops, great to have cheered your name. And thanks for the memories, we were lucky to have you.

I get that, if I owned Forest I would not be sacking Cooper, he is a good manager and clearly has the support of the fans and players. It is a very brave move. When we were both in the Championship against Nuno's Wolves I was so impressed with his football, Wolves were brilliant and romped the Championship. He was unlucky at Wolves with injuries which led to his sacking I think but he does play exciting football and it could (no guarantees) be a great appointment.
It won't change the 2 fundamental problems we have, firstly we continue to gift the opposition goals, e.g. Turner last Friday night v. Spurs.......Turner v. Liverpool.......Turner not coming for a cross v. Spurs which led to the first goal.....secondly not taking the chances we create......Boly was completely open inside the penalty area last Friday & blasted the ball over the bar....Tufolo missed an easier chance at Wolves than the one he scored from......... all the goodwill the club has because of Steve Cooper will evaporate. If we lose a couple of games the atmosphere will become toxic.......it's happened before when Sean O'Driscoll who was doing a decent job (we'd just beat Leeds & were 6th in the Championship) was sacked & replaced by McLeish (zero personality) who never came close to winning our fans over before resigning...

Beyond disappointed at Cooper's impending departure. He's the best thing that's happened to Forest in my 25 years as a fan, and the prospect of going back to how we were in the Championship gives me a pit in my stomach.

This decision and how successful it is will define Marinakis' ownership of the club. I doubt he'll have a bigger call to make as owner here.

As for Steve, all I can say is a thank you for some of the best days.
Would completely agree with this. Cooper has been Forest's manager for about 10% of my time supporting them, yet about 75% of the joy I've had supporting them has come during this time.

I'd have been quite happy to give him the season to turn it round, the happy clapper that I am.

It's now a big time for the club, I feel there's so much beyond the manager where there are problems and I'm yet to be convinced changing to Nuno is going to do anything, not beyond the very short-term anyway. If a managers record from 4-5 years ago was a reliable indicator that they were going to be a success here, then there are a lot of managers we've had wouldn't have been the complete abysmal failure that they've been.

If there is truth to it lets be honest Steve leaves as a complete legend of the club. He has transformed the club make no mistake about that.

Overall everything he touched turned to gold, but this season there has been too many mistakes IMO whether they are all down to him or not that's for your own judgement, but I don't think he's helped himself at times.

FFS, Turner was NEVER getting to that. There is no way that was a mistake by any goalkeeper.

Let's hope that Nuno, if he comes, can help drive down the number of errors our guys do make though.

Those saying how toxic the atmosphere will get sound just like those they criticise for saying what Marinakis will be thinking. It's almost as though you want it to be that way to prove your point.

Just get behind the team FFS.

It looks imminent--every media source in England seems to be reporting it. Cooper will always have legendary status for the club, that much is certain. But our football is poor and Santo is a quality manager. Saying he will get us relegated is foolish at this point. Let's see how things go, assuming this does, in fact, happen. He does have some pedigree and his successes in top flite football are undeniable.

There is a point there though.

If it is perfectly acceptable for people to be highly critical of Steve Cooper, which they have, then surely it is equally as acceptable for people to be highly critical of whoever the manager is at any time?

We can't say 'it's fine to criticise X but not his eventual replacement'.

On the other hand, constant criticism of 'X' rather makes the case for criticism of his replacement, it's like a self fulfilling prophecy.

This really hurts.

For me, the biggest disappointment is the realisation that as a club I don't think we have the foresight or the mindset required to ever amount to anything more than we currently are (this is just my opinion, and I accept that for some, amounting to more than we currently are, will just mean a few good results over the next 13 games).

The Frank Clark days (and Clough days for that matter) alluded to earlier today in this thread, will forever remain a distant memory for us.

Onto the next manager, and sincerely, I really hope to be proved wrong.

I’ll write my obituary before any official announcement as it looks certain now.

Thanks for everything,Steve.
Thanks for promotion, thanks for the FA Cup run, thanks for Wembley and thanks for the
fantastic and memorable game against Arsenal last season.
But thanks mainly for giving us something to believe in and restoring the pride in
Nottingham Forest.

Best of luck in your next position.

Unless EM gets lucky once more, and adopts a different approach this will always be the case with him in charge, IMHO.
